Job Summary
A Data Center Tower Lead is a senior operational and managerial role. They direct massive, multi-site technical or physical infrastructure teams (often managing 1,000+ FTEs). They are responsible for driving service delivery, maximizing operational uptime, managing budgets, and executing large-scale project deployments within cloud or colocation facilities
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence: Oversee daily data center floor operations, hardware lifecycle deployments, and physical infrastructure. Track and drive compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- People Leadership: Manage large technician teams, area leads, and vendor staff. Set team priorities, handle escalations, and oversee performance and career development.
- Facility & Capacity Management: Supervise proactive maintenance of physical infrastructure (power trains, HVAC, airflow, and containment). Direct efforts to replace/upgrade components and expand data center regions.
- Incident & Problem Management: Lead on-the-ground technical teams during major incidents and conduct root-cause analyses to prevent future risks.
- Financial & Resource Oversight: Manage operational expenditures (OPEX), vendor contracts, inventory, and logistics. Drive automation and process improvement initiatives.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) standards and data center security protocols.
Skill Requirements
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in data center operations, network management, or IT infrastructure, ideally including prior team management or Data Center Operations Lead experience.
- Skills: Strong background in hardware/network troubleshooting, process improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL methodologies), and vendor management
