Job Summary
The Boiler Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the boiler system to ensure a continuous and efficient supply of steam for rice processing operations. The role includes ensuring safe boiler operation, conducting routine inspections, maintaining operational records, and complying with all safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers and associated equipment to ensure a continuous and efficient steam supply for production.
- Safely start up, operate, and shut down boilers in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and maintain boiler operating parameters, including steam pressure, temperature, water levels, fuel consumption, and gauge readings.
- Conduct routine inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, pipelines, and steam systems, identifying and reporting any abnormalities or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Perform scheduled boiler blow down, water treatment, and other routine operational activities to ensure optimal boiler performance.
- Carry out minor maintenance activities and coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance and major repairs.
- Maintain accurate daily operating logs, maintenance records, and fuel consumption records.
- Ensure adequate fuel availability and support uninterrupted production by maintaining a reliable steam supply.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in the boiler house and surrounding work area.
- Comply with all statutory regulations, boiler safety requirements, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Assist during statutory inspections, annual boiler inspections, safety audits, and other regulatory compliance activities.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Boiler Operation, or a related technical field.
- Valid Boiler Operator Certificate/License (as per state statutory requirements).
- 2–5 years of experience operating industrial boilers.
- Experience in rice mills, food processing plants, FMCG preferred.
