Job Summary:
The Jr. Tool & Die Maker - PTD will specialize in manufacturing, assembling, and maintaining progressive press tools (PTD) for sheet metal stamping. The role involves operating machines independently to produce progressive die components, ensuring high-quality assembly and trials, supporting production requirements, and contributing to efficient progressive tool performance while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
● Operate conventional machines (lathe, milling, grinding, drilling, EDM/WEDM) to manufacture precise components for progressive dies (punches, die inserts, strippers, pilots, guides).
● Assemble, fit, spot, polish, and conduct trials for multi-stage progressive dies.
● Perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and modifications on progressive tools.
● Read and interpret complex progressive die drawings, apply basic GD&T, and ensure precision tolerances.
● Troubleshoot basic issues in progressive dies during trials or initial production runs (e.g., misfeeds, slug pulling).
● Maintain progressive die history cards, records, and inventory of spares/consumables.
● Ensure compliance with safety norms, use PPE, and maintain 5S in the progressive tool section.
● Collaborate with seniors, design, and production teams to meet progressive die delivery schedules and quality requirements.
Skills & Competencies Required:
● Proficiency in machining components specific to progressive dies.
● Strong understanding of progressive die working principles and components.
● Blueprint reading skills with GD&T fundamentals for sheet metal tools.
● Expertise in precision measurement, die assembly, spotting, and trial techniques.
● Problem-solving ability focused on progressive die performance issues.
● Good teamwork, communication, and commitment to safety and quality.
Experience & Qualification:
Experience: 2–5 years in progressive tool & die making or sheet metal press tools (specific experience in multi-stage progressive dies is essential).
Qualification: ITI in Tool & Die Making or equivalent. Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Tool Engineering is preferred.

○ Achieve on-time delivery of assigned progressive die components and assemblies with zero critical defects and strict tolerance adherence.
○ Minimize rework/scrap rate through accurate machining, assembly, and spotting.

○ Complete preventive maintenance on progressive dies to reduce breakdowns and extend tool life.
○ Respond promptly to minor die issues, minimizing production downtime in stamping operations.

○ Meet or exceed targets for progressive component production and successful first-trial approvals.
○ Contribute to efficient strip layout and die performance during trials.
- Safety & Housekeeping Compliance
○ Maintain zero safety incidents in progressive die operations and full PPE/protocol adherence.
○ Uphold 5S standards in progressive tool workstations and storage areas.

○ Accurately maintain progressive die history, trial reports, and inventory records.
○ Demonstrate effective collaboration through positive feedback from seniors and production teams.
