Job Summary
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply to critical patient care areas while maintaining compliance with electrical safety regulations, hospital policies, and accreditation standards such as NABH. Hospital electricians are typically expected to maintain HT/LT systems, UPS, DG sets, emergency power, and other essential infrastructure with minimal downtime.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of all hospital electrical systems.
- Maintain electrical wiring, lighting fixtures, power sockets, switches, distribution boards, and control panels.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults promptly.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to ICU, Operation Theatre (OT), Emergency, Cath Lab, NICU, and other critical departments.
- Maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and electrical distribution systems.
- Operate and monitor DG sets, UPS systems, batteries, and emergency lighting systems.
Preventive Maintenance
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance as per the maintenance calendar.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records.
- Monitor electrical equipment performance and recommend replacements when required.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Indian Electricity Rules and hospital safety standards.
- Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
- Use appropriate PPE while carrying out electrical work.
- Participate in fire safety and disaster management drills.
- Report unsafe electrical conditions immediately.
- Support NABH audits and statutory inspections by maintaining proper documentation.
Equipment & Facility Support
- Assist in installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment.
- Coordinate with Biomedical, HVAC, Plumbing, Civil, and Housekeeping teams during maintenance activities.
- Supervise electrical contractors whenever required.
- Monitor energy consumption and suggest energy-saving initiatives.
- Maintain inventory of electrical tools, spare parts, and consumables.
Emergency Response
- Attend emergency electrical breakdowns on priority.
- Provide support during power failures and ensure immediate restoration of essential services.
- Be available for shift duties, weekend duties, and emergency call-outs as required.
Qualifications
- ITI in Electrician Trade / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Electrical B Licence or C Licence issued by the competent authority.
- Knowledge of HT/LT systems, DG sets, UPS, transformers, electrical panels, and hospital electrical infrastructure.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Hospital or healthcare facility experience is preferred.
- Experience in handling critical electrical systems is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of electrical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with electrical safety regulations and preventive maintenance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during emergencies.
- Basic computer knowledge for maintenance documentation.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- On-call availability for emergency maintenance.
- Work may involve climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in confined spaces.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹27,000.00 per month
