About us:
Maybae's Bakehouse is an independent microbakery in Goa. The bakery centres small batch production of slow-fermented breads, pastries and cakes for pickup/takeaway along with deliveries. We try to bake with local produce and grains when possible, changing menus with the seasons.
We're looking for a Bakery Assistant (Commi 2/3 level) to join as a part of our core production team while helping shape the next stage of the bakery. It is a full-time, on-site role. You will be working out of our production kitchen in Ucassaim, Goa, so we are preferably looking for candidates who can commute comfortably or are open to relocating closer to the space.
About the role:
As our resident Baker, you will assist daily pastry and bread production, while working closely with the rest of the team. We value a working knowledge of baking techniques and encourage learning across disciplines. This is a hands-on role in a small team where you'll have the opportunity to learn, take ownership where possible, contribute ideas and grow alongside the bakery.
Your responsibilities include:
- Prep and produce pastries, breads, tart and other doughs, end to end, to a consistently high standard. Also, assist with adjacent production when required.
- Maintain recipe consistency, organisation and production quality.
- Help maintain food safety, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.
- Occasionally assist with customer-facing responsibilities when required.
- Daily tasks include collaborating on menu development, monitoring inventory, coordinating with the front-of-house team, and supporting special orders and wholesale accounts.
- Contributing to a positive, respectful work environment.
What we are looking for:
- At least one year of professional experience.
- A working knowledge of breads from mixing, shaping and baking lean and enriched breads as well as laminated doughs, tart shells etc.
- A working knowledge of pastry, desserts and adjacent skills.
- Experience in food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen organization, including proper storage, labelling, and cleaning procedures.
- Curiosity about techniques, ingredients and seasonal produce.
- Organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership, and works well within a small, collaborative team.
- People who want to grow with the team long term.
