Job Summary
PCTE Group of Institutes is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Hardware & Networking Engineer to manage, maintain, and support the institute's IT infrastructure. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of computer systems, network infrastructure, internet connectivity, servers, CCTV systems, biometric devices, and other IT-related resources across the campus.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Management
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, projectors, and other computer peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware faults in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with vendors for repairs, warranty claims, and Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs).
- Maintain an inventory of IT hardware, accessories, and consumables.
Network Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, firewalls, and structured cabling.
- Monitor network performance and ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity across the campus.
- Troubleshoot network outages and connectivity issues.
- Configure and manage IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and network security.
System Administration
- Install and configure Windows operating systems and application software.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access.
- Ensure regular system updates, antivirus protection, and software patch management.
- Perform data backup and recovery activities.
IT Support
- Provide first-level technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Resolve hardware, software, printer, email, ERP, and network-related issues.
- Maintain service request logs and ensure timely issue resolution.
- Assist departments during seminars, workshops, conferences, and examinations by providing technical support.
Security & Infrastructure
- Monitor and maintain CCTV surveillance systems.
- Manage biometric attendance devices and access control systems.
- Ensure cybersecurity best practices and endpoint protection.
- Maintain server rooms and network equipment in accordance with IT standards.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain records of IT assets, licenses, warranties, and service reports.
- Prepare preventive maintenance schedules for IT equipment.
- Maintain network diagrams and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with institutional IT policies and cybersecurity guidelines.
Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs), software vendors, and hardware suppliers.
- Obtain quotations and recommend procurement of IT equipment and services.
- Verify installation, maintenance, and service reports from external vendors.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- Diploma/Degree in Hardware & Networking or Computer Engineering is desirable.
- Certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, Network+, RHCE, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in hardware maintenance and network administration.
- Experience in educational institutions, universities, or corporate organizations will be preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- Knowledge of CCTV systems, biometric devices, and IP surveillance.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and antivirus management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
