Position title: Inward Quality Check (IQC)

Role summary:
The Inward Quality Checker is responsible for inspecting, verifying, and documenting the quality of incoming materials, parts, and components against defined specifications and purchase order requirements. The role ensures non-conforming items are identified and controlled, supports supplier quality improvement, and maintains accurate inspection records to prevent production disruptions and uphold final product quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming materials and components as per inspection plans, sampling procedures, and approved drawings or specifications.
- Verify quantities, part numbers, batch/lot numbers, and documentation against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Perform visual inspections, dimensional measurements (using calipers, micrometers,gauges), functional checks, and basic tests as per defined acceptance criteria.
- Execute sampling inspections using AQL or company-specific sampling plans.
- Record inspection results accurately in the SAP system and on paper inspection records as needed.
- Identify, segregate, and label non-conforming materials; raise Non-Conformance Reports(NCRs) or Material Rejection Notices and notify purchasing/warehouse and relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, and quality engineering to resolve quality issues,perform root-cause analysis, and verify corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection tools and calibration records; escalate calibration or equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and ensure proper storage of accepted and rejected materials.
- Participate in incoming quality improvement initiatives, supplier audits, and periodic reviews.
- Help update inspection instructions, incoming control plans, and quality documentation as required.
Qualifications and skills:
Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical / Production / Electronics / Industrial Engineering or relevant technical field preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on incoming inspection or quality control experience preferred (industry-specific experience advantageous).
- Technical skills: Proficient with common inspection instruments (vernier calipers,micrometers, height gauges, gauges).
- Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001), acceptance sampling (AQL), and NCR handling.
- Computer skills: Basic MS Office; experience with SAP is a plus.
- Attention to detail, strong observational skills, and good record-keeping.
- Good communication skills to interact with suppliers, procurement, and production teams.
- Ability to follow SOPs, read engineering drawings, and work under time pressure.
- Physical requirements: Able to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights as needed in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Performance indicators:
- Accuracy and timeliness of incoming inspection records.
- Rate of undetected defects reaching production (target: minimal).
- Correct and timely issuance of NCRs and disposition of rejected material.
- Reduction in supplier defects over time through corrective actions and follow-up.
- Adherence to inspection schedules and calibration requirements.
