Job Summary
The Store Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the store by ensuring proper receipt, storage, issuance, and documentation of raw materials, consumables, tools, packing materials, and finished goods. The role requires maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production requirements, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Receipt
- Receive incoming materials from suppliers.
- Verify quantity and quality against Purchase Orders (PO), Delivery Challans, and Invoices.
- Assist in Goods Receipt Note (GRN) preparation.
- Report shortages, damages, or discrepancies immediately.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock records.
- Arrange materials systematically using FIFO/FEFO principles.
- Ensure proper labeling and identification of all materials.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the Store In-Charge about low inventory.
- Participate in monthly and annual physical stock verification.
Material Issue
- Issue materials against authorized Material Requisition Notes (MRN).
- Ensure timely supply of materials to the production department.
- Record all material movements accurately.
Documentation
- Maintain proper records of:
- GRN
- Material Issue Slips
- Stock Registers
- Bin Cards
- Inventory Reports
- Update ERP/Excel inventory records regularly.
Housekeeping & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store.
- Follow 5S practices.
- Ensure safe storage of materials.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Purchase Department
- Production Department
- Quality Department
- Dispatch Department
- Support internal and external audits.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist in cycle counting.
- Handle loading and unloading of materials.
- Ensure proper storage conditions.
- Perform any other work assigned by the Store In-Charge.
Required Qualifications
- HSC / Diploma / Graduate (Any Discipline preferred)
- Certification in Inventory or Store Management is an added advantage.
Experience
- 0–2 years for Fresher/Junior Store Assistant
- 2–5 years preferred in a manufacturing environment
