Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer with 8+ years of experience to lead our DevOps practice, manage and mentor a team of engineers, and drive the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lead DevOps Engineer at SquareOps, you will:
- Lead and manage a team of DevOps engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support.
- Drive the scalability, reliability, security, and performance of customer cloud environments.
- Collaborate with clients, engineering teams, and stakeholders to define infrastructure strategies and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Architect and implement cloud-native solutions with a focus on scalability, security, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Own and enhance CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), monitoring, and automation frameworks.
- Establish DevOps best practices, standards, and governance across projects and teams.
- Manage project delivery, resource planning, task allocation, and team utilization to ensure successful execution.
- Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical assessments to maintain engineering excellence.
- Drive innovation by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies, tools, and processes.
- Ensure cloud cost optimization and efficient utilization of infrastructure resources.
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability initiatives.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical challenges and critical production issues.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, and learning within the team.
QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
- 2+ years of experience leading and managing DevOps teams, including mentoring, performance management, and resource planning.
- Proven experience architecting and managing complex production systems with multi-tier application architectures.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture design.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar platforms.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform and related automation tools.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Shell, Python, AWS Lambda, EventBridge, or similar technologies.
- Experience implementing monitoring, observability, logging, and alerting solutions.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements, and cloud governance.
- Experience designing high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Strong knowledge of cloud cost optimization and FinOps principles.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Professional-level certifications.
- Experience working with SaaS, AI/ML, DataOps, or enterprise-scale platforms.
- Experience managing distributed or remote engineering teams.
- Exposure to GitOps, Platform Engineering, and SRE practices.

Pay: ₹2,498,852.73 - ₹4,014,906.49 per year
