Be Bold. Belong. Be More.
At Southern Cross University, we do things differently, and so can you.
A career with us is more than you might expect. Yes, it’s about the heart, connectedness and community you’d hope for in a regional university. But there’s also so much more. Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.
You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.
Your opportunity
As the Student Support and Success Officer (Sports & Recreation), you will support the coordination of sport, recreation and wellbeing initiatives that help students build connections, develop a sense of belonging and thrive at university. You will support programs including social sport, Team SCU participation at university sporting events and the Elite Athlete and Performer Program, contributing to student engagement, wellbeing and success. Primarily based on regular weekday hours, this role includes occasional evening and weekend work supporting events, along with opportunities to travel interstate in support of student sport and recreation experiences.
You will make an impact by:
-
Support the coordination and delivery of sport, recreation, wellbeing and student engagement programs across the University
-
Building strong relationships with students, clubs, volunteers, community organisations and external partners to increase participation and engagement
-
Supporting Team SCU participation at local, regional and national university sporting events, including volunteer coordination and event logistics
-
Promoting programs and initiatives through social media, digital content, marketing campaigns and student communications
-
Supporting the delivery of the Elite Athlete and Performer Program, including student engagement, program administration and stakeholder liaison
What you will bring
You are an energetic and student-focused professional who enjoys creating meaningful experiences that bring people together. You are equally comfortable taking a lead role in events, managing administrative processes, engaging stakeholders and promoting initiatives through digital channels.
With a proactive mindset and strong organisational skills, you thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Most importantly, you are passionate about the role sport, recreation and wellbeing play in supporting student success and creating a positive university experience.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
-
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or qualifications in sports management, physical education or a related discipline
-
Experience delivering sport, recreation, student engagement or event programs designed to engage participants
-
Experience creating digital content, social media campaigns or student engagement initiatives
-
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and partners
-
Experience using administrative systems, CRM platforms, reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications
It’s not essential, but we’d love it if you had experience within university sport, student services, higher education or UniSport Australia environments.
