Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Production Engineer to oversee daily production activities in our copper electroplating facility. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring production targets, maintaining coating quality, improving productivity, reducing process losses, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute daily production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Supervise copper electroplating operations, including pre-treatment, electroplating, rinsing, passivation, and finishing processes.
- Monitor and control plating parameters such as current density, voltage, plating time, temperature, pH, and copper concentration.
- Ensure coating thickness, adhesion, and surface finish meet specified quality standards.
- Monitor chemical bath health and coordinate replenishment and maintenance activities.
- Improve productivity by reducing cycle time, rework, rejection, and process downtime.
- Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and Planning departments for smooth production flow.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, equipment, and production resources.
- Maintain production records, shift reports, process logs, and daily MIS reports.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for rectifiers, plating tanks, pumps, cranes, polishing machines, and other production equipment.
- Monitor consumption of copper anodes, chemicals, acids, additives, and utilities to reduce manufacturing costs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safe handling of chemicals.
- Train operators and technicians on process control, safety, and standard operating procedures.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality and production issues.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Production Engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience in copper electroplating, metal finishing, or surface treatment industries.
- Experience with electroplating of MS rods, pipes, earthing electrodes, or similar metal components is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of electroplating principles and electrochemistry.
- Knowledge of copper plating process parameters and bath chemistry.
- Familiarity with coating thickness measurement methods and quality inspection techniques.
- Experience in production planning, process optimization, and productivity improvement.
- Ability to troubleshoot plating defects such as poor adhesion, burning, pitting, roughness, and uneven coating.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and production reporting.
