Job Description
Job Title: Statutory Reporting Manager
Department: Finance Line Manager’s Job Title: Department Head

1. Job Purpose
The Statutory Reporting Manager manages the delivery of the financial statements for the Group and its subsidiaries. The role involves collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with IFRS/FRS 102 and strengthen the control environment. The Statutory Reporting Manager mentors a high-performing team, drives process automation and streamlines reporting workflows.
2. Core Responsibilities
- Statutory Reporting Management: Responsible for the preparation of the year end/interim financial statements and handle internal and external review comments for Group and c. 18 subsidiaries (including 2 banking entities) under IFRS and FRS 102. Manage and supervise the completion of all the pre-year end planning related task within the timeline agreed with UK team.
- External Audit Management: Agree year end/ interim timelines including key milestones before reporting cycle kicks off with internal and external stakeholders and obtain auditor’s signing clearance on financial statements.
- Process Development & Design: Ensure the team is updating the End use computing (Policy & Procedure) from time to time to meet internal and external audit requirements and obtain necessary sign offs. Also ensure the team is updating the version control for all the changes made with the work papers to have sufficient audit trail. Also work closely with Department Head and UK team for process improvement and implementing control to mitigate risk.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage and supervise data gathering required to prepare financial statements including but not limited to reporting packs & input data to prepare notes to accounts. Support company secretary by providing financial statements for Board meetings.
- ESEF filing Management: Agree on timelines with external auditors and vendor before year end reporting. Ensure stakeholders are well-informed of their roles and responsibilities and that reporting cycles are efficient and effective.
- Quality Delivery: Review the support files prepared by the team and notes to accounts populated within the financial statements. Also perform benchmarking with competitor financial statements & suggest improvement within financial statements.
- Training & Development: Manage training road map for team members skill sets and planning for internal and external training.
- Performance review: perform semi-annual and annual performance review of the team and manage the performance throughout the year.
- Manage and supervise the roll-forward of Group as well as subsidiaries financial statements within timeline.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to queries/ad-hoc request from head office, subsidiaries and other departments relating to finance related matters.
- Ensure that you fully understand and comply with the organisation’s Risk Management Policies as they relate to your area of responsibility and demonstrate in your day to day work that you put customers at the heart of everything you do.
- Ensure that you fully understand and comply with the organisation’s Data Governance Policies as they relate to your area of responsibility and demonstrate in your day to day work that you treat data as an important corporate asset which must be protected and managed.
- Maintain the company’s compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations.
3. Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience of audit exposure from Big4 firms
- 5-10 years of post-qualification experience in Financial Reporting function (IFRS)
- 3-5 years of previous experience of providing technical input and commentary to ARA’s is essential
- 3-5 years of previous experience of engaging with stakeholders of varying levels is essential
- Financial services experience desirable but not essential, as is experience of training delivery.
4. Knowledge Requirements
- Good understanding of design and implementation of internal controls over financial or non-financial reporting is essential
- Strong knowledge of UK reporting requirements (IFRS, FRS 102, CA2006 etc.) is essential
- Strong knowledge of UK Public Company financial reporting is essential
- Strong technical knowledge of statutory reporting is essential
5. Skill and Competency Requirements
- Ability to build effective working relationships quickly and convey technically complex topics in a clear manner is essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Strong skills in respect of interpersonal and influencing skills, even when not having direct authority are essential
- Ability to work with a wide range of people across the business is essential
- Ability to understand and approach complex problems in a logical way is essential
- Ability to understand analytically and data intensive processes is essential
- Excellent skills in terms of organisation and ability to prioritise workload are essential
6. Required Qualifications/Certifications
- Professional accounting qualification (CA or ACCA) is essential
- Finance qualification and degree is essential
