Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all production activities in a fabrication manufacturing facility. The role ensures production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards, cost efficiency, safety compliance, and on-time delivery. The Production Manager is also responsible for effective shop floor management, manpower planning, process improvement, and coordination with other departments.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned timeline.
- Monitor production output and optimize machine utilization.
- Coordinate with the Planning, Purchase, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure uninterrupted production.
Shop Floor Management
- Supervise all fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, machining, grinding, assembly, and finishing.
- Ensure adherence to approved work instructions and production processes.
- Monitor workflow to eliminate bottlenecks and improve productivity.
- Ensure efficient utilization of machinery, tools, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain production records, reports, and shift documentation.
Manpower Management
- Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise supervisors, operators, welders, fitters, helpers, and contract workers.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and employee performance.
- Identify training needs and conduct skill development programs.
- Resolve shop floor issues and maintain healthy employee relations.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Minimize rejection, rework, and scrap through process control.
- Coordinate with the Quality department for inspections and corrective actions.
- Implement preventive actions for recurring quality issues.
Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce production cycle time and manufacturing costs.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and labor productivity.
- Monitor production KPIs and prepare performance reports.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Conduct safety meetings and participate in accident investigations.
- Maintain housekeeping standards across the shop floor.
Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor raw material availability and consumption.
- Minimize material wastage and optimize inventory usage.
- Coordinate with Stores for timely material issuance and stock control.
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure machines are available for planned production.
- Report equipment issues and monitor maintenance effectiveness.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily production reports, manpower reports, downtime reports, and efficiency reports.
- Analyze production data and recommend improvements.
- Maintain production records in accordance with company procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–15 years of experience in fabrication or sheet metal manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and assembly.
- Production planning and scheduling expertise.
- Excellent shop floor supervision skills.
- Strong leadership and manpower management abilities.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and OEE.
- Ability to analyze production data and solve operational problems.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
- Good communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹450,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
