Working Hours
- 9 hours per shift
- Rotational shifts (Morning / Evening / Night, if applicable)
- 6 working days per week
- One weekly off as per the duty roster.
Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe procurement, storage, dispensing, and management of medications while providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients. The role requires adherence to statutory regulations, hospital policies, NABH standards, and ethical pharmacy practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesMedication Dispensing
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately and safely.
- Verify prescriptions for completeness, dosage, interactions, and contraindications.
- Counsel patients and caregivers on medication usage, dosage, storage, and possible side effects.
- Ensure dispensing complies with hospital policies and applicable laws.
Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and consumables.
- Monitor expiry dates and remove expired or damaged medicines.
- Maintain FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) inventory practices.
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement of medicines.
Controlled & Scheduled Drugs
- Maintain records of narcotic and psychotropic medications as per statutory requirements.
- Ensure secure storage and proper documentation of controlled drugs.
- Conduct periodic stock verification and reconciliation.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate dispensing records and inventory registers.
- Update pharmacy software with medication transactions.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly pharmacy reports.
- Ensure proper documentation for NABH compliance.
Quality & Safety
- Follow medication safety protocols.
- Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and near-miss incidents.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the pharmacy.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
Patient Care
- Answer medication-related queries from doctors, nurses, patients, and caregivers.
- Provide education on medication adherence and safe usage.
- Assist in medication reconciliation whenever required.
Coordination
- Work closely with consultants, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support emergency medication requirements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary healthcare activities.
Qualification
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
- Valid Karnataka State Pharmacy Council Registration Certificate (Mandatory).
Experience
- Freshers are welcome to apply.
- Candidates with 1–5 years of hospital or retail pharmacy experience will be preferred.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and drug classifications.
- Good understanding of prescription interpretation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with pharmacy management software.
- Excellent organizational and inventory management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in hospital pharmacy.
- Knowledge of NABH standards and medication safety practices.
- Familiarity with psychotropic and psychiatric medications.
- Understanding of controlled drug documentation and regulatory compliance.
Working Conditions
- 9-hour rotational shifts.
- 6 working days per week.
- One weekly off as per hospital policy.
- Willingness to work on weekends, public holidays, and during emergencies as per duty roster.

Salary
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and hospital norms.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
