Job Title – Deputy to CFO
Job Location – Ahmedabad HO
Responsibilities –
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in commercial accounting, project accounting, financial controls, compliance and commercial risk assessment, preferably in a project-based environment. This role also involves active coordination with statutory auditors and managing GST refund processes including Inverted Duty Structure, SEZ supplies, and Export-related claims.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Accounting & Finance for Projects:
- Oversee and manage the accounting lifecycle for SITC and turnkey projects, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and cost booking.
- Track project-wise financial performance (cost vs. budget, revenue vs. milestone billing, cash flow).
- Ensure timely invoicing, certification, and collections in line with project milestones and contractual terms.
- Manage all aspects of project billing, including retention, advances, and client reconciliations.
2. Commercial Risk Assessment:
- Assist in identifying financial and contractual risks in commercial transactions.
- Support contract reviews from a financial perspective and suggest appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure commercial compliance and profitability.
3. Audit & Statutory Compliance:
- Liaise with internal and statutory auditors for timely and accurate audit completion.
- Prepare and review audit schedules, reconciliations, and necessary documentation.
- Coordinate responses to auditor queries and ensure compliance with audit recommendations.
4. GST & Refund Management:
- Manage GST compliance including timely filing of returns and reconciliation of GST inputs and outputs.
- Prepare documentation and coordinate with consultants for GST refund claims under:
- Inverted Duty Structure
- Supplies to SEZ units/developers
- Exports of goods and services
5. Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Assist the CFO in preparing forecasts, budgets, and MIS for project financials.
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor working capital requirements and optimize cash flows for ongoing projects.
6. Payment & Treasury Functions:
- Oversee vendor payments related to project procurement and subcontracts.
- Ensure timely disbursements while maintaining compliance with internal controls and cash flow constraints.
- Liaise with banks for project finance, BGs, LCs, and fund/non-fund based limits.
7. Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements – GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, etc.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls related to project execution and payment processing.
- Support in audits – statutory, internal, and project-specific.
8. Strategic Support & Leadership:
- Act as a key support to the CFO in all financial, commercial, and strategic matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams – Project Management, Procurement, Legal, and Sales – to align financial objectives with business goals.
- Contribute to systems improvement, ERP implementation/enhancement related to project accounting.
Educational Qualifications & Skills:
- Chartered Accountancy degree (final completed)
- 3-10 years of post-qualification experience
- Experience in managing financials of SITC/turnkey/EPC-type projects is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of project accounting, taxation, banking instruments (LC, BG), and commercial law.
- Proficient in ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
