A Header Operator (or Cold Header Machine Operator) is a manufacturing professional responsible for setting up and running heavy-duty machinery that compresses, cuts, and shapes raw metal wire into precision fasteners and components (like bolts, screws, and rivets).
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup: Read blueprints, interpret work orders, and calibrate machines by setting the correct pressure and depth of ram strokes.
- Tooling Installation: Install, adjust, and remove dies, cams, and stop guides using overhead cranes and hand tools.
- Quality Control: Run sample workpieces, inspect finished components against strict tolerances using tools like micrometers and calipers, and make necessary adjustments.
- Material Loading: Load heavy wire coils onto spool racks and feed them through a series of dies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning), conduct minor repairs, and troubleshoot malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain an organized work area.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, often combined with several years of hands-on metalworking or production experience.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints. Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges).
- Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long shifts, perform repetitive motions, and lift heavy materials.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting capabilities, and mechanical aptitude.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
