A 4-wheeler workshop service manager directs all daily operations of an automotive service center. They lead technician teams, oversee repair workflows, manage inventory, and handle customer relations. Their goal is to maximize workshop profitability while ensuring high-quality repairs and top-tier customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Operations & Floor Management
- Supervise daily activities, including job card creation, job allocation, and floor management.
- Ensure vehicles are diagnosed, repaired, and delivered on time without compromising quality.
- Manage the Final Inspection and Quality Control (Q-Check) processes before handing vehicles back to customers.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, tool maintenance, and strict adherence to shop floor safety standards.
Customer Service & Relations
- Resolve customer grievances professionally and empathetically, maintaining high ratings on the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI).
- Build lasting relationships with clients to promote repeat business and service referrals.
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, mentor, and schedule service advisors, technicians, and support staff.
- Identify skill gaps and conduct regular technical and soft-skill training sessions.
- Monitor individual technician productivity and efficiency metrics.
Financial & Inventory Management
- Oversee workshop profitability (P&L), labor utilization, and cost-control measures.
- Coordinate with the parts department to ensure adequate inventory, minimizing downtime caused by missing or delayed spare parts.
- Monitor and evaluate service and parts options to optimize costs and warranty operations.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all repairs comply with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and warranty policies.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) like customer retention, complaint resolution rates, and warranty claim accuracy.
Core Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or B.Tech in Automobile / Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years in automotive service operations, with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of modern 4-wheeler vehicle systems, diagnostic tools, and Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
- Soft Skills: Strong financial acumen, exceptional conflict resolution, leadership capabilities, and communication skills.
