About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician & Critical Care Consultant to join our growing healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), Emergency Department, and inpatient wards. The consultant will play a key role in delivering evidence-based medical care, leading critical care interventions, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients admitted to ICU, HDU, and emergency services.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment and management plans.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment protocols as required.
- Manage ventilator-supported patients and other advanced critical care interventions.
- Perform clinical procedures as per standard medical protocols and guidelines.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and code blue situations.
Patient Care & Coordination
- Coordinate with specialists, surgeons, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure multidisciplinary patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, prognosis, and expected outcomes.
- Ensure continuity of care through regular patient rounds and follow-up assessments.
- Participate in discharge planning and post-hospital care recommendations.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and statutory regulations.
- Participate in clinical audits, mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow infection control and patient safety protocols at all times.
Academic & Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and continuing medical education programs.
- Mentor junior doctors, residents, and medical staff when required.
- Support hospital accreditation and quality improvement activities.
- Contribute to departmental growth and implementation of clinical best practices.
QualificationsEssential
- MBBS with MD in Medicine.
- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/State Medical Council.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based medical practices and critical care protocols.
Preferred
- Fellowship, IDCCM, IFCCM, DM, DrNB, or equivalent qualification in Critical Care Medicine.
- Experience in managing ICU and emergency care patients.
- ACLS/BLS certification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Fresh consultants and experienced candidates are welcome to apply.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in critical care, ICU management, and emergency medicine.
