Project Manager – Bridge Construction (Balanced Cantilever Method)
Position Title: Project Manager – Bridge Construction (Balanced Cantilever Method)
Reports To: Technical Director / CEO
Location: Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing bridge construction projects utilizing the balanced cantilever method with the Doka Cantilever Forming Traveler (CFT) system. The role involves managing all phases of construction, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, maintaining safety and quality standards, controlling costs and schedules, and leading multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver bridge projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop detailed project work schedules and resource allocation strategies.
2. Manage the construction of balanced cantilever bridge segments using the Doka Cantilever Forming Traveler (CFT) system or equivalent.
3. Coordinate construction sequences, including segment casting, prestressing, traveler launching, and closure pours.
4. Ensure adherence to project specifications, approved method statements, and engineering drawings.
5. Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to meet schedule milestones.
6. Review and understand structural drawings, temporary works designs, and CFT system documentation.
7. Coordinate with design consultants, Doka engineers, and structural engineers regarding construction methodology.
8. Oversee the installation, operation, relocation, and dismantling of the cantilever form travelers.
9. Ensure proper alignment, geometry control, and dimensional accuracy of bridge segments.
10. Monitor concrete quality, curing, prestressing operations, and segment tolerances.
11. Manage the project budget, monitoring actual costs against budget, preparing monthly cost and progress reports, and implementing cost-control measures.
12. Administer the construction contract, including preparation of progress claims and interim payment applications, management of variations and claims, and contractual correspondence with the client and consultant.
13. Manage and coordinate subcontractors and specialist suppliers, including prestressing and post-tensioning specialists.
14. Ensure compliance with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
15. Coordinate inspections and testing activities.
Candidate Requirements
1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status (preferred).
3. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an advantage.
4. Valid construction safety certification.
5. Minimum 10 years of bridge construction experience, including at least 5 years managing balanced cantilever bridge projects.
6. Hands-on experience with the Doka Cantilever Forming Traveler (CFT) or equivalent form traveler systems.
7. Experience with post-tensioned concrete bridges and segmental bridge construction.
8. Proven experience managing large infrastructure projects.
9. Fluency in English is essential; working proficiency in French is strongly preferred, as the project is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Pay: ₹250,000.00 - ₹360,000.00 per month
