Job Title: Hospital Technician – Biomedical
Job Summary:
The Hospital Biomedical Technician is responsible for ensuring that all medical, diagnostic, and laboratory equipment within the hospital functions safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role supports clinical staff by maintaining, repairing, and calibrating biomedical devices, while ensuring compliance with hospital safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hospital biomedical equipment, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and laboratory devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend equipment life.
- Calibrate medical devices to ensure accuracy and reliability according to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate service records, including repairs, maintenance logs, and equipment performance data.
- Coordinate with clinical and nursing staff to resolve equipment issues promptly.
- Assist in procurement, installation, and setup of new biomedical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with hospital safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide technical support and training to hospital staff on proper use and care of biomedical equipment.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance programs related to medical equipment.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Medical Technology, or related field.
- Certification in biomedical equipment maintenance is preferred.
- Prior experience in hospital biomedical equipment maintenance is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of medical devices, electronics, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, biomedical standards, and infection control protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle biomedical equipment safely.
- Comfortable working in hospital wards, labs, and diagnostic areas.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of computerized diagnostic and imaging equipment.
- Ability to train hospital staff and explain technical procedures clearly.
- Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment.
