We are seeking a talented and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Commis Chef, you will work closely with our experienced chefs to assist in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen operations. Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and cooking ingredients and dishes according to recipes and standards set by senior chefs.
- Support the preparation of stocks, sauces, dressings, and other essential elements for menu items.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the cleaning of kitchen equipment, tools, and workstations.
- Ensure food is cooked and presented to the highest quality standards.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are monitored.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures, ensuring compliance with HACCP standards.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team, providing support across various sections of the kitchen.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff or apprentices when required.
- Help minimize food wastage and optimize ingredient use.
- Be flexible in supporting other kitchen sections during busy periods or as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen environment preferred but not required.
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent training is a plus.
- Basic understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from senior chefs.
- Strong passion for food and eagerness to learn new culinary techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
