Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all installation, repair, and upkeep of the plant’s production machinery and infrastructure. The primary objective is to ensure maximum equipment uptime, optimize machinery performance, and manage a team of technicians while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
This role requires deep technical expertise in rubber processing machinery, specifically focusing on compounding, extrusion, and hose reinforcement operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machinery Maintenance & Asset Management
Mixing & Compounding (Banbury & Mixing Mills): Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of Banbury mixers and open mixing mills. Ensure optimal functioning of hydraulic ram cylinders, dust stop seals, cooling systems, gears, and heavy-duty main motors.
Extrusion Lines: Maintain cold and hot feed extruders, including screws, barrels, heating/cooling zones, die-heads, and continuous vulcanization (CV) lines or liquid curing mediums.
Reinforcement & Finishing (Winding, Braiding, Wrapping & Unwrapping): * Ensure high-precision calibration and synchronization of wire/yarn winding and braiding machines to prevent tension variations.
Maintain rigid/flexible mandrel handling systems, automated wrapping, and un-wrapping machines used for structural hose curing.
Utilities: Manage plant utilities including high-pressure steam boilers, cooling towers, industrial chillers, air compressors, and hydraulic power packs.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Design, implement, and track a robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule to minimize unplanned downtime.
Deploy predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis), especially for high-torque gearboxes on Banburys and mills.
Maintain a critical spare parts inventory specifically for specialized rubber machinery components (e.g., braiding hooks, extruder screws, rotary joints).
3. Leadership & Safety compliance
Lead, mentor, and schedule shifts for a team of mechanical, electrical, and automation technicians.
Enforce strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, machine guarding compliance, and general OHS guidelines tailored to heavy rubber machinery hazards (nip points on mills, high temperatures, high-pressure hydraulics).
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Maintenance.
Certifications in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (TPM/5S) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum 7–10 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a rubber manufacturing plant, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Direct experience maintaining Banbury mixers, Extruders, and Braiding/Wrapping machines is mandatory.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Skill Area Requirements
Mechanical Expertise Deep knowledge of heavy-duty gearboxes, pneumatic systems, high-pressure hydraulics, and rotary joints.
Electrical & Automation Strong understanding of PLC automation (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) for speed control in extrusion/braiding, and SCADA systems.
Process Knowledge Familiarity with the physical characteristics of rubber compounding, scorching, and the mechanical stressors they place on machinery.
Software Proficiency Experience working with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or ERP maintenance modules (SAP/Oracle) for work order tracking.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) optimization across mixing and hose-building lines.
Reduction in Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and expansion of Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹52,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
