Creative Director — Cynosure Weddings
Location: Kharghar, Navi Mumbai Type: Full-time, on-site with travel to shoots Experience: 5+ years in photography, film production, or a related creative field
About us
Cynosure has been photographing people for 21 years. We run two sides of the business: Cynosure Photo Studio & Lab, which handles studio portraits, maternity, kids and documentation work, and Cynosure Weddings, our premium wedding photography and cinematic film division. Our work goes out to clients who are spending significantly and expect the output to reflect that.
The role
We are looking for someone to own the creative side of a project from the first client meeting to the final delivery. You will be the person the client talks to, the person who decides what the shoot should look like, and the person calling the shots on the ground.
Day to day this means:
- Meeting clients, understanding what they want, and translating that into a shoot plan they can actually picture
- Building mood boards, shot lists and treatment notes for weddings, pre-weddings and studio projects
- Attending shoots and directing on location , working with the photography and video teams, guiding the couple or subject, managing the flow of the day
- Recceing venues and planning coverage in advance
- Reviewing edits and grades before anything reaches the client, and holding the line on quality
- Keeping a consistent visual identity across everything we put out, including our social media and portfolio
- Working with the sales team on pitches and helping close the kind of clients we want
What we are looking for
- Strong portfolio in wedding, editorial, fashion or commercial work ,as a director, DOP, lead photographer or creative lead
- Comfortable running a set and giving direction to a crew and to nervous people in front of a camera
- Good eye for light, framing and colour, and the vocabulary to explain what you want to an editor or colourist
- Working knowledge of the post pipeline (Premiere or Resolve, Lightroom, Photoshop). You do not need to be the one editing, but you need to know what you are asking for
- Comfortable with clients. A lot of this job is managing expectations and keeping people calm
- Fluent in English, Hindi and preferably Marathi
- Willing to work weekends and travel during wedding season. This is not a desk job
Nice to have
- Experience with destination weddings and multi-day events
- A network of freelance photographers, cinematographers and editors you can pull in when needed
- Drone or gimbal experience
