Set BI & Data Engineering Strategy and Direction
- Define and own the integrated BI and Data Engineering strategy for MSO, ensuring alignment between data ingestion, transformation, and dashboard consumption.
-
Establish long‑term roadmaps for MSO’s data backbone and BI products, balancing scale, reliability, flexibility, and speed.
-
Act as the senior authority on data‑to‑decision enablement, ensuring outputs are not only technically correct but business‑relevant and decision‑ready.
-
Lead BI Delivery, Design, and Business Translation
- Oversee BI delivery across MSO (e.g., ELL, Media Goals, HCP/DTC Trackers, Web and Competitive Intelligence dashboards).

Ensure mockup‑driven design practices are embedded, translating business questions into structured dashboard designs and build‑ready specifications.
-
Guide teams in strengthening business logic understanding, KPI interpretation, and narrative framing behind dashboards.
-
Lead and/or sponsor executive‑ and brand‑level dashboard readouts, ensuring insights are clearly communicated and actionable.

Own Data Engineering Excellence & Platform Reliability
- Provide senior oversight of MSO’s data engineering foundation, including ingestion (file‑based and API‑driven), transformation, DQM, and BI‑ready aggregation layers.
-
Establish and enforce data engineering best practices (scalable pipeline patterns, testing, observability, recovery, and documentation).
-
Ensure operational excellence across Databricks/S3 pipelines powering BI, web analytics, and 3rd‑party competitive datasets.
-
Ensure quality control and release readiness
-
Own operational health of MSO ingestion and processing—logging, monitoring, DQM validation, publish/stitch status tracking, and automated notifications when feeds or taxonomy inputs fail.
-
Own release operationalization by maintaining runbooks, validation notebooks/checklists, and production observability artifacts (ingestion logs, error traces, alert routing) so deployments are traceable, recoverable, and supportable.
-
Drive Agile Ops, Governance, and Predictable Delivery
- Own MSO’s Agile operating model across BI and Data Engineering, ensuring clear backlogs, prioritization, sprint discipline, and dependency management.
-
Establish delivery governance that enables predictable releases, transparent trade‑offs, and proactive risk management.
