Job Summary
The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer in the efficient operation and maintenance of all hotel engineering systems. This role ensures that the hotel's facilities, equipment, and utilities are maintained to the highest standards while providing a safe, comfortable, and uninterrupted experience for guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department.
- Supervise and lead engineering technicians, contractors, and support staff.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure the proper functioning of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, generators, elevators, STP/WTP, and fire & life safety systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.
- Monitor utility consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives.
- Maintain engineering logs, maintenance schedules, and equipment records.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, fire & safety standards, and hotel policies.
- Coordinate with all departments to minimize operational disruptions.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure the availability of essential engineering materials.
- Assist in preparing departmental budgets and controlling maintenance expenses.
- Train and develop the engineering team on safety procedures and technical best practices.
- Ensure all engineering work is completed efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in hotel engineering operations.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or Assistant Engineer role.
- Experience with an international hotel brand is mandatory, and prior experience in a 5-star hotel is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Sound knowledge of fire & life safety systems and statutory compliance.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Budgeting and cost control.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and hotel maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an advantage.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
