About (DDIA)
DDIA is responsible for all the Digital requirements of the IIT Kanpur such as planning, purchasing, executing, support-providing and maintaining all the digital assets and services including the cybersecurity, telephone exchange, Internet Services, etc.
Role Summary
Academic ERP design, development and implementation for the institute, API integration and data migration, system, database, webserver, LDAP, Load balancing, Security certificates and Version management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, development, customization, and implementation of Academic ERP and institute automation systems using React.js, Node.js, Python, Java, JSP/Servlets, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
- Requirement analysis, system design, solution architecture, and preparation of technical documentation/SRS
- Extensive utilization of AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Anthropic Claude for coding, testing, debugging, documentation generation, code optimization, and rapid application development
- Leveraging AI/AGI concepts, prompt engineering, and automation technologies to improve software quality, productivity, and institutional digital transformation
- Development and integration of REST APIs, third-party services, payment gateways, and enterprise applications for seamless data exchange and interoperability
- API-based data access, synchronization, and migration between legacy and modern applications/databases
- Database design, optimization, migration, backup, and management for MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
- Development of MIS reports, dashboards, analytics, and data-driven decision support systems
- Modernization, enhancement, and integration of legacy applications based on Java, JSP, and Servlet technologies
- Development of scalable, secure, high-performance, and future-ready web applications and ERP modules
- System testing, debugging, deployment, performance tuning, and production support activities
- Coordination with stakeholders, users, vendors, and development teams for project execution and timely delivery
- Ensuring application security, data integrity, compliance, and adherence to software development best practices
- Preparation of technical manuals, implementation reports, user guides, and training materials
- Providing technical support, maintenance, user training, and continuous enhancement of institute automation systems
Detailed Responsibilities
· Design, develop, customize, implement, and maintain Academic ERP and institute automation applications using React.js, Node.js, Python, Java, JSP/Servlets, MySQL, and PostgreSQL technologies.
· Study and analyse functional requirements from academic, administrative, finance, examination, hostel, HR, and other institute sections for automation and digital transformation initiatives.
· Prepare System Requirement Specifications (SRS), technical design documents, workflows, database schemas, API specifications, and other project-related technical documentation.
· Develop responsive, scalable, secure, and user-friendly web applications and ERP modules aligned with modern software engineering standards and institutional requirements.
· Utilize AI-assisted development platforms and tools such as Cursor, Anthropic Claude, and other AI/AGI technologies for software coding, rapid prototyping, debugging, automated testing, documentation generation, code review, optimization, and productivity enhancement.
· Apply prompt engineering techniques and AI-driven workflows to improve software development efficiency, automation, reporting, and institutional decision-support systems.
· Develop and integrate REST APIs, web services, payment gateway integrations, authentication systems, LDAP/Active Directory integrations, and third-party enterprise applications for seamless interoperability and secure data exchange.
· Perform API-based data extraction, transformation, synchronization, and migration between legacy and modern systems/databases while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
· Design, administer, optimize, and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, indexing, replication, backup, recovery, patch management, and database security administration.
· Manage Linux-based servers and system administration activities including user management, process monitoring, shell scripting, system security, storage management, performance monitoring, log analysis, and server maintenance.
· Configure, manage, and maintain LDAP/Directory Services for centralized authentication, user access management, role-based access control, and enterprise identity integration.
· Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot web and application servers including Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat, Nginx, and related middleware services for high availability and performance optimization.
· Plan and implement backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, restoration, and data protection strategies for applications, databases, and servers.
· Modernize and enhance existing legacy applications developed using Java, JSP, and Servlet-based architectures by integrating modern frameworks and technologies.
· Develop MIS reports, dashboards, analytics modules, and automated reporting systems for management, academic administration, and operational monitoring.
· Conduct unit testing, integration testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), debugging, vulnerability assessment, and performance optimization to ensure reliable and high-quality software delivery.
· Coordinate with internal stakeholders, users, external vendors, and development teams for requirement clarification, project execution, issue resolution, deployment, and implementation activities.
· Participate in project planning, sprint reviews, technical discussions, progress monitoring, and review meetings; prepare Minutes of Meeting (MoM) and implementation status reports as required.
· Ensure application security, cybersecurity compliance, data confidentiality, user access control, audit readiness, and adherence to software development and IT governance best practices.
· Deploy and support applications on Linux-based production environments and coordinate server, database, network, and security-related activities for smooth operational support.
· Prepare user manuals, technical guides, training materials, knowledge-base documents, SOPs, and implementation reports for end users and management.
· Provide technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, bug fixing, system monitoring, and continuous enhancement of ERP and institute automation systems to ensure uninterrupted services.
· Continuously explore and evaluate emerging technologies, AI tools, automation frameworks, cloud-native solutions, DevOps practices, and modern software development methodologies to make institute systems future-ready, scalable, and efficient.
Desired Qualifications
B.Tech./B.S./M.Sc. in CSE/IT or MCA with 8years of relevant experience OR
M.Tech. in CSE/IT with 6 years of relevant experience
OR
Ph.D. in Engineering/Sciences+3 Years relevant experience.
Excellent academic record along with the experience related to AI tools, LLM and prompt engineering, AI certification, Agentic AI.
