Job Title: Lab Technician
Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory diagnostics, sample collection, and laboratory testing. The role involves performing routine laboratory investigations, maintaining quality standards, and supporting clinicians with accurate and timely diagnostic reports.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Collection & Processing
- Collect, label, and process biological samples such as blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens.
- Perform blood collection (phlebotomy) while following standard safety protocols.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of samples.
Laboratory Testing
- Perform routine laboratory investigations, including:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Liver Function Tests (LFT)
- Kidney Function Tests (KFT)
- Urine Analysis
- Other laboratory tests as required.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and analyzers.
- Record, verify, and report test results accurately.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow laboratory quality control procedures and SOPs.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables and reagents.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and laboratory regulations.
Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and reports.
- Coordinate with clinicians regarding test requirements and urgent samples.
- Communicate any discrepancies or equipment issues promptly.
Qualifications
- DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / BMLT / PGDMLT or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a diagnostic or clinical laboratory.
- Hands-on experience in CBC, LFT, KFT, phlebotomy, sample processing, and laboratory documentation.
- Familiarity with automated laboratory analyzers.
- Good communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in a NABL-accredited laboratory is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
