Role Description
The Investor Relations and Deal Sourcing professional will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with current and potential investors, including institutional, strategic, and individual stakeholders interested in the defense ecosystem.
This full-time remote role involves preparing investor materials, presentations, and updates that communicate IDET’s initiatives, research outputs, and venture opportunities in a clear and compelling manner.
The role includes identifying and sourcing potential investment deals in defense startups and projects, conducting preliminary financial and strategic assessments, and coordinating due diligence with internal and external experts.
The professional will track market trends in defense technology and venture investing, maintain investor databases and CRM tools, and support fundraising activities, investor meetings, and events. Daily tasks also include cross-functional collaboration with research, accelerator, and venture studio teams to align investment narratives with technical and strategic insights.
Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Investor Relations skills, including relationship management, stakeholder communication, and the ability to prepare investor reports and presentations. Candidates should possess Investments and Finance skills, such as understanding of financial analysis, valuation basics, deal structuring, and venture or private equity concepts. Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills, including the ability to evaluate market trends, assess startup potential, and interpret research and data for investment decision support.
Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex defense and technology concepts to non-technical investors. Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, business, economics, international relations, defense studies, or a related field are beneficial. Experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate finance, or startup ecosystems, especially in technology or defense-related sectors, is highly desirable. Familiarity with defense industry dynamics, geopolitics, and international security issues, and the ability to work ethically within privacy and national security boundaries, is an advantage.
