Senior Hardware Engineer – Camera Systems & Edge AI
Helixbeat is building a next-generation intelligent security camera platform for enterprise,
government, Smart City, critical infrastructure, industrial, and public-safety environments.
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Hardware Engineer – Camera Systems & Edge AI
to own the end-to-end hardware architecture and development of our intelligent camera platform.
This role goes beyond PCB design. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating
CMOS image sensors, optics, ISP, Hailo-based Edge AI compute, PCB electronics, memory,
storage, Ethernet/PoE, illumination, thermal management, mechanical systems,
cybersecurity, and manufacturing into a secure, reliable, production-ready camera platform.
The engineer will work closely with internal software and AI teams as well as ODMs, camera
manufacturers, optics suppliers, PCB vendors, and manufacturing partners and will help drive the
platform from architecture through EVT, DVT, PVT, certification, and mass production.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end hardware and system architecture for Helixbeat intelligent security
cameras.
- Architect camera platforms around Hailo AI vision processors, including processor,
memory, storage, MIPI CSI-2, Ethernet and peripheral architecture.
- Define and review schematics, PCB layouts, stack-ups, high-speed interfaces, power
architecture, grounding, signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, ESD and surge
protection.
- Select and evaluate CMOS image sensors based on resolution, sensor size, pixel size,
HDR, low-light performance, NIR sensitivity, shutter characteristics and application
requirements.
- Work with optics and image-quality engineers on lens selection, focal length, aperture,
MTF, distortion, motorized zoom/focus, ICR and optical-window design.
- Work with ISP engineers to optimize day/night image quality, HDR, low-light
performance, moving-object detail, noise, color accuracy, exposure and IR
performance.
- Design specialized camera configurations for low-light surveillance, ANPR/LPR, long range surveillance, industrial safety and harsh environments.
- Define IR and illumination architecture, including adaptive IR, synchronized ANPR
illumination, white-light illumination and optical isolation.
- Own PoE/PoE+/PoE++ power architecture, power budgeting, sequencing, protection and
efficiency.
- Develop the overall thermal architecture, including processor heat spreading, sensor
thermal isolation, enclosure conduction, heaters, defogging and environmental operation.
- Work with mechanical engineers to develop compact, rugged camera enclosures
supporting IP67/IK10-class environmental requirements.
- Define networking and video requirements including Gigabit Ethernet, H.264/H.265,
RTSP/RTP, ONVIF, IPv4/IPv6 and 802.1X.
- Collaborate with Edge AI engineers to optimize multiple concurrent computer-vision
workloads on Hailo hardware.
- Define hardware cybersecurity requirements including hardware root of trust, secure
boot, protected device identity, secure key storage, signed firmware, anti-rollback,
secure OTA, debug lockdown and secure manufacturing provisioning.
- Ensure production hardware contains no undocumented debug paths, backdoors,
universal passwords or unauthorized remote-access mechanisms.
- Lead technical architecture and design reviews with ODMs/manufacturers and evaluate
proposed component substitutions or design changes.
- Own hardware validation and root-cause analysis through EVT, DVT and PVT.
- Drive DFM/DFT, BOM optimization, AVL, second-source strategy, factory calibration,
end-of-line testing and manufacturing traceability.
- Support certification and compliance activities for applicable global markets.
- Maintain hardware architecture documents, block diagrams, interface specifications,
design decisions, validation results and manufacturing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of experience in hardware, embedded systems, camera systems, imaging
systems or related product development.
- Demonstrated experience developing at least one camera, machine-vision, automotive camera, smart-camera or embedded-vision product.
- Strong knowledge of CMOS image sensors, camera architecture and image-processing
pipelines.
- Experience with MIPI CSI-2, DDR/LPDDR, eMMC, QSPI, Ethernet and high-speed PCB
design.
- Strong knowledge of schematic design, PCB architecture, SI/PI, power design,
EMI/EMC, ESD and surge protection.
- Experience with ARM/Linux embedded platforms and BSP integration
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Provident Fund
