About Autodata
Autodata was established in 1980 in Mumbai and has grown from variable speed drives into three major verticals: Automation, Particulate Emission Control, and Power Electronics (DC power supplies, heater control, and power quality). We operate manufacturing facilities of 1,400 sq. meters in Mumbai, with a new 6,000 sq. meter facility being added at Sri City, near Chennai.
Our Power Electronics group is engaged in:
- Active Front End (AFE) systems under development for power factor improvement and harmonic compensation.
- A high-voltage rectifier system fed by a three-phase transformer operating at 1000 Hz, with V/F control of the primary, a delta-star secondary connected to a series-connected three-phase bridge, in ratings from 10 kVA to 250 kVA — currently under development.
- Line-commutated thyristor control equipment for transformer primary control of single and three-phase transformers, used in Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) power supplies rated 95–120 kV, up to 2000 mA. ESPs are used to control particulate emissions in power plants, sinter plants, steel plants, and cement plants.
- High-frequency-fed transformer rectifier systems for ESP applications (in association with a US-based company), involving resonant switching inverters.
- DC power supplies for electro-deposition and battery charging, including EV charging.
- Analog and digital heater controls using line-commutated thyristor topologies.
Our control platform is built on the Texas Instruments Piccolo series DSP, with associated peripherals including mux/demux units, A/D and D/A converters, communication memory, digital and analog I/O, and HMIs.
