Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Purchase to manage procurement activities for a pharmaceutical manufacturing company. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, packaging materials, engineering items, and services while ensuring timely procurement, cost optimization, quality compliance, and vendor management.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Manage procurement of API, excipients, packaging materials, laboratory consumables, engineering spares, and other indirect materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors as per company requirements.
- Obtain quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Issue Purchase Orders and ensure timely order execution.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Conduct vendor evaluations and performance reviews in coordination with QA and other departments.
- Ensure approved vendor compliance as per company quality standards.
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Warehouse, and Planning teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock to avoid shortages and excess inventory.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
Cost Control & Negotiation
- Achieve cost savings through effective negotiation and strategic sourcing.
- Analyze market trends and pricing to optimize procurement costs.
- Prepare comparative statements and procurement reports.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain procurement records, vendor agreements, purchase orders, and contracts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GMP requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Support audits by providing procurement-related documentation and records.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly procurement reports, vendor performance reports, and purchase budgets.
- Track purchase orders, pending deliveries, and procurement KPIs.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical procurement processes.
- Experience in sourcing raw materials, packaging materials, and engineering items.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and procurement reporting.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in Pharmacy, Science, Commerce, Engineering, or related field.
- MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences manufacturing companies.
- Knowledge of GMP requirements and pharmaceutical supply chain practices.
- Exposure to import procurement and vendor qualification processes will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
