Position Overview:
The Officer – Student Engagement / Internship will play a key role in strengthening career awareness, internship participation, and placement outcomes for students in Delhi government schools. The role will focus on building student-centered engagement models, facilitating employer and partner connections, and ensuring effective coordination with stakeholders at the school, industry, and government levels.
This role demands strong communication, stakeholder management, and data management skills, along with a deep commitment to improving livelihood opportunities for young people..
About Lend A Hand India :
Lend A Hand India, established in 2006 in Pune, Maharashtra, is a non-profit organization working at the intersection of education and livelihood to provide youth employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Lend A Hand India focuses on integrating vocational education with mainstream education to make secondary education more meaningful and interesting for their sustainable livelihoods. We set up labs with requisite tools and equipment, recruit and train qualified vocational trainers, arrange internship opportunities for the students, and get them assessed and certified, followed by placement support. Students are also provided internship opportunities with small or micro-enterprises to help them gain real-life exposure to the “World of Work.” We also bridge the gap between policy and execution by providing technical and project management support to the state governments to scale up vocational education. Our team members are co-located within the state education department, helping the state formulate the policy for vocational education and ensure effective execution. Key Responsibilities:
Career Guidance & Student Engagement:
Facilitate career awareness and guidance sessions tailored for students (without overwhelming them).
Curate and maintain a repository of opportunities (programs, jobs, apprenticeships, coaching, etc.).
Introduce and support initiatives like the HCL TechBee program, Haldiram Skill Academy and other career pathways.
Conduct employability skill-building workshops, socio-emotional sessions, and career counselling in collaboration with Vocational Trainers.
Pilot and expand peer/buddy systems for student support.
Employer & Partnership Engagement:
Build and strengthen employer partnerships for internships, placements, and workshops by experts.
Engage with professionals (lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, etc.) for exposure sessions.
Engage past partners and explore high-network organizations (e.g., Reliance outlets, large employers).
Coordinate placement drives with clear targets and employer mapping.
Support students with interview preparations, communication and confidence building for various offered career opportunities.
Placement Drives & Job Fairs:
Mobilize students for participation in job fairs and placement drives.
Train and coordinate with RPs and VTs for effective preparation and execution of job fair.
Ensure follow-up with employers and students’ post-placement.
Track student outcomes to assess if expectations are being met.
Governance & Stakeholder Coordination:
Build and maintain strong relationships with Resource Persons, HoS, VTs, and government stakeholders.
Support state/district authorities in monitoring and handholding at school level.
Create effective communication systems through different channels (e.g., smaller WhatsApp groups, larger alignment forums).
Ensure clarity of LAHI’s offerings for government and school stakeholders.
Operations & Planning:
Break down annual activities into task-level plans with timelines.
Address RP grievances and strengthen onboarding/entry strategies into schools.
Document program progress through reports, case studies, and presentations.
Ensure regular data collection, analysis, and reporting at block/district level.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience :
- Any Post Graduate/ Graduate from a recognized university across India.
- Preferably Post Graduate Certification/Diploma in any stream under the social/ rural/ skill development/ education sector.
- Earlier Fellowship / Entrepreneurial Experience would be preferred.
- Preferably 2 years of working experience in Student Development Programs in Education/ Skill Development/ Counseling/ Governance/ Employment/ Livelihood/ Industry Sector.
Skills and Competencies
- Good Data Management Skills.
- Excellent Presentation and Documentation Skills, including Digital platforms (MS Office, Google Docs/Slides)
Excellent Written and Verbal Communication in Hindi and English.
