Job purpose
We are seeking an experienced and delivery-focused Scrum Master to support a large-scale Global Capital Markets platform-modernization program. The role facilitates agile delivery across assigned squads — spanning trade platform stabilization and the build-out of target-state capabilities across event-driven integration,
Databricks/data lake, reporting, migration and front-to-back trade lifecycle for FX Cash, Cleared IRS and future product onboarding. The Scrum Master will maintain delivery discipline, transparency and alignment across onshore and offshore teams, coach squads on Agile/Scrum practices, remove impediments, and provide clear visibility of progress, risks and delivery metrics to the leadership team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, collaborative facilitator who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and builds trusting, high-performing teams.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate key Agile ceremonies across the delivery squads — sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews/showcases and retrospectives.
- Track sprint progress, blockers, dependencies and team capacity, and maintain transparency by radiating clear, timely delivery information.
- Support backlog hygiene and readiness for engineering intake, working closely with the Product Owner to maintain and prioritize the product backlog.
- Identify and remove impediments or guide the team to resolve them by engaging the right people, without coercing, assigning or dictating the work.
- Coach the team and stakeholders on Agile/Scrum practices and values, assessing Scrum maturity and guiding the team to higher levels at a sustainable pace.
- Facilitate discussion, decision-making and conflict resolution, building a trusting, safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame.
- Escalate and communicate delivery risks, and support internal and external communication across onshore and offshore stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on key Agile performance metrics (velocity, burndown, throughput) to the leadership team, while managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.
Key competencies
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree with 8+ years of Scrum Master experience; Scrum Master certification (CSM / PSM) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices, and of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban and XP, with a solid grasp of iterative and incremental development.
- Good understanding of Agile engineering practices — user stories, continuous integration, ATDD, TDD, continuous and automated testing, and pairing.
- Understanding of Agile metrics and incremental delivery — task and backlog tracking, burndown, velocity and user stories; experience using JIRA is a strong preference.
- Familiarity with common development practices, service-oriented environments and microservices; advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills, with a strong work ethic, attention to detail and exceptional relationship-management ability.
- Self-motivated, independent and responsible team player, able to work across multiple projects and deadlines and quickly learn new concepts.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in Capital Markets or Commercial Banking, ideally supporting platformmodernization or transformation programs.
- Experience coaching distributed onshore/offshore squads and improving Scrum maturity within enterprise delivery environments.
