Heavenly Angels, a vertical of DBC Trust, provides children with a safe, nurturing, and supportive home where their education, emotional well-being, personal development, and overall growth are prioritised.
We are looking for compassionate, emotionally mature, and responsible House Mothers and House Fathers who can care for children with warmth and patience while maintaining appropriate discipline, healthy boundaries, routines, and institutional standards.
This is not merely a supervisory position. The selected candidate will serve as a dependable caregiver and positive role model who helps children feel safe, heard, valued, supported, and accountable.
Position Summary
The House Mother/House Father will be responsible for the daily care, supervision, safety, discipline, emotional well-being, and development of children residing at Heavenly Angels.
The ideal candidate must know how to balance love with discipline and kindness with firmness. Children must be guided through patience, communication, consistency, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate consequences - not through fear, threats, humiliation, or physical punishment.
Key ResponsibilitiesChild Care and Emotional Support
- Provide children with attentive, compassionate, and responsible care.
- Develop healthy and age-appropriate relationships based on trust, respect, and professional boundaries.
- Create a safe environment where children feel comfortable expressing their concerns and seeking support.
- Listen to children patiently and respond to their emotional needs with sensitivity.
- Observe changes in a child’s behaviour, mood, health, academic performance, or social interaction and promptly report concerns.
- Support children who may have experienced loss, separation, trauma, neglect, or difficult life circumstances.
- Treat every child fairly and respectfully without favouritism, comparison, discrimination, or labelling.
- Protect the privacy, dignity, and confidential information of every child.
Daily Routine and Supervision
- Supervise children during waking, bathing, dressing, meals, school preparation, study time, recreation, prayer, bedtime, and other daily activities.
- Ensure that children attend school, tuition, appointments, activities, and events on time.
- Help children develop healthy habits, personal responsibility, independence, and respect for shared spaces.
- Ensure children have access to appropriate food, clothing, personal-care items, educational materials, and other necessities.
- Maintain an accurate headcount and remain aware of every child’s whereabouts.
- Escort and supervise children during outings, appointments, programmes, and off-campus activities when required.
- Ensure that children are never left without appropriate supervision.
- Provide a complete and accurate handover to the caregiver taking over the next shift.
Discipline and Behaviour Management
- Maintain clear, consistent, and age-appropriate rules and routines.
- Correct inappropriate behaviour calmly, fairly, and respectfully.
- Use positive reinforcement and constructive conversations to encourage accountability.
- Help children understand the consequences of their choices and learn healthier ways to manage emotions and conflict.
- Never use physical punishment, abusive language, threats, intimidation, public humiliation, food deprivation, or degrading disciplinary methods.
- Report serious or repeated behavioural concerns to management.
- Work with teachers, counsellors, caregivers, and management to implement appropriate support plans.
- Model honesty, patience, punctuality, cleanliness, respectful communication, and responsible conduct.
Education and Personal Development
- Monitor study schedules, homework, school preparation, and academic routines.
- Coordinate with teachers, tutors, counsellors, and management regarding children’s progress and concerns.
- Encourage children to participate in sports, art, music, dance, reading, cultural programmes, and other constructive activities.
- Help children develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork, decision-making abilities, and good values.
- Recognise and encourage each child’s individual interests and talents.
- Assist with educational activities, celebrations, performances, competitions, and special events.
Health, Hygiene and Safety
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, organised, and child-friendly living environment.
- Monitor children for signs of illness, injury, emotional distress, or discomfort and follow the approved reporting procedure.
- Coordinate with medical staff or management regarding medical appointments and prescribed care.
- Administer medication only when authorised and strictly according to institutional procedures.
- Ensure medicines, cleaning supplies, sharp objects, and potentially hazardous materials are stored securely.
- Conduct or assist with scheduled room, hygiene, and safety checks.
- Follow all emergency, fire-safety, first-aid, evacuation, and incident-reporting procedures.
- Immediately report any concern involving a child’s safety, well-being, unexplained absence, or possible mistreatment.
Records and Coordination
- Maintain accurate daily records of attendance, health concerns, incidents, appointments, activities, and important child-related updates.
- Prepare clear shift-handover notes for the incoming caregiver.
- Maintain confidentiality and share sensitive information only with authorised personnel.
- Attend staff meetings, training programmes, reviews, and child-care planning meetings.
- Coordinate with management, teachers, counsellors, medical personnel, and other authorised team members.
- Follow all policies, standard operating procedures, child-protection requirements, and directions issued by DBC Trust management.
Day-Shift Responsibilities
In addition to the general responsibilities, the day-shift caregiver will:
- Prepare children for school and scheduled daytime activities.
- Coordinate school departures, arrivals, meals, tuition, homework, appointments, and recreational activities.
- Communicate with teachers, tutors, counsellors, and authorised personnel when required.
- Supervise after-school routines and extracurricular activities.
- Address daytime educational, health, behavioural, and administrative concerns.
- Prepare a complete handover for the night-shift caregiver.
Night-Shift Responsibilities
In addition to the general responsibilities, the night-shift caregiver will:
- Remain awake, attentive, and available throughout assigned night-duty hours.
- Supervise children and conduct scheduled headcounts and safety checks.
- Ensure children follow appropriate bedtime routines.
- Respond calmly and promptly if a child becomes unwell, distressed, frightened, or requires assistance.
- Follow all procedures regarding doors, designated areas, emergency access, and campus safety.
- Record any significant incident or concern occurring during the night.
- Provide a complete morning handover to the day-shift caregiver and management.
- Not sleep while responsible for active child supervision unless management has specifically established a documented on-call residential arrangement.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Graduate from a recognised university.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in a children’s home, residential school, hostel, boarding facility, child-care organisation, NGO, or similar environment.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with children, colleagues, and management.
- Ability to read, write, and maintain basic records in English, Hindi, and/or Punjabi, as required.
- Basic proficiency in using a computer and smartphone for official reports and communication.
- Willingness to work the assigned day or night shift, including weekends and holidays according to the duty roster.
- Willingness to undergo police verification, identity verification, reference checks, and a medical-fitness assessment.
- No history of child abuse, exploitation, violence, serious misconduct, or offences that would make the candidate unsuitable for working with children.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- A degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, Education, Nursing, Home Science, or a related field.
- Experience supporting children who have faced trauma, separation, grief, neglect, or difficult family circumstances.
- Training in child safeguarding, positive discipline, counselling, behaviour management, or trauma-informed care.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in residential child care, hostel management, boarding-school supervision, or pastoral care.
- The ability to lead extracurricular activities such as art, music, dance, sports, yoga, theatre, gardening, reading, or storytelling.
