Role Overview
We are seeking a Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer with strong migration experience to support the Fabric & Power BI asset migration. The engineer will play a critical role during the discovery, architecture setup, and migration execution phases, working closely with Microsoft Support and/or the selected implementation partner. Support the discovery phase of the migration. Collaborate closely with Microsoft Support and/or the selected vendor on platform architecture setup and migration activities
Key Responsibilities
1. Migration Discovery & Assessment (Critical)

Lead the discovery phase for existing:
-
Power BI reports, datasets, semantic models
-
Fabric Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines
-
Dataflows Gen1/Gen2
-
Assess:
-
Source platforms (Synapse, ADF, ADLS, SQL, etc.)
-
Data volumes, refresh patterns, dependencies
-
Security models and tenant-level configurations
-
Identify migration risks, gaps, and optimization opportunities
2. Fabric & Power BI Migration Execution
-
Migrate and validate:
-
Power BI reports and datasets to Fabric
-
Direct Lake–enabled semantic models
-
Lakehouse / Warehouse objects
-
Handle:
-
Dataset refactoring (Import Direct Lake)
-
Data model optimization
-
Performance tuning post-migration
4. Architecture & Collaboration
-
Collaborate closely with:
-
Microsoft Support
-
Selected Fabric migration vendor/partner
-
Target-state Fabric architecture
-
Migration runbooks and best practices
-
Governance and operational standards
5. Skill Set:

Azure Synapse

Azure Data Factory
