About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Business Development Executive - Upwork with 1–2 years of hands-on experience in proposal writing and business development through Upwork. Upwork experience is mandatory for this role.
The person should understand how to search for the right jobs, evaluate client profiles, check project quality, and write customized proposals on Upwork.
This role is mainly focused on bidding for SEO, paid ads, social media marketing, and email marketing projects. The candidate should be able to understand client requirements and write clear, relevant, and professional proposals accordingly.
We are looking for someone with very good English, a detail-oriented approach, strong work ethics, and the willingness to learn how to improve replies, conversions, and overall bidding quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Search and shortlist relevant jobs on Upwork, mainly for SEO, paid ads, SMM, and email marketing projects.
- Evaluate opportunities based on client country, budget, hiring history, hire rate, reviews, project details, and reply chances.
- Write customized proposals that are relevant to the client’s requirement and avoid cookie-cutter or copy-paste responses.
- Pay special attention to the first 4–5 lines of the proposal, as they are critical for grabbing the client’s attention.
- Understand which portfolio item, case study, result, or service example should be used for a particular job.
- Write proposals smartly even when an exact matching portfolio item is not available.
- Keep track of new job postings and respond quickly to relevant opportunities.
- Coordinate with seniors or internal teams for service understanding, pricing, scope, or proposal inputs.
- Maintain daily records of jobs applied, proposals sent, replies received, and follow-ups.
- Assist in improving Upwork profiles, proposal templates, and bidding approach.
- Follow up with clients professionally and keep conversations active.
- Stay focused and consistent with daily bidding activity, even when the work becomes repetitive.
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience in Upwork bidding or business development through Upwork.
- Good understanding of Upwork, including job search, proposals, client profiles, hire rate, and bidding logic.
- Experience in bidding for SEO, paid ads, social media marketing, and email marketing projects.
- Very good written English communication skills.
- Ability to write clear, professional, and customized proposals.
- Good understanding of what makes the opening lines of a proposal strong and relevant.
- Ability to judge which jobs are worth applying to and which should be avoided.
- Detail-oriented approach while checking client details, budgets, countries, reviews, hire rate, and project requirements.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced agency environment where multiple jobs and replies may need attention on the same day.
- Open to feedback, learning, and improving proposal quality and client communication.
- Responsible, alert, focused, ethical, honest, and transparent in daily work and reporting.
Good to Have
- Basic understanding of CRO, landing pages, website design, and website development projects.
- Experience with Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or similar CMS-based projects.
- Basic knowledge of LinkedIn outreach or other lead generation channels.
- Experience working in a digital marketing agency, IT company, web solutions company, or digital agency setup.
- Exposure to international clients or written sales communication.
