Position Summary
The Manager – Learning & Development (L&D) is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development initiatives for academic staff. The role focuses on enhancing faculty teaching effectiveness, leadership capabilities, employee competencies, and organizational performance through structured training programs, competency development frameworks, and continuous learning initiatives.
The incumbent will collaborate with university leadership, department heads, and external training partners to build a high-performance learning culture aligned with the institution's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the annual Learning & Development strategy aligned with institutional objectives.
- Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) across academic and administrative departments.
- Prepare the annual L&D calendar, budget, and training roadmap.
- Establish competency frameworks for faculty and staff.
Faculty Development
- Design and manage Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), orientation programmes, and refresher courses.
- Organize workshops on:
- Teaching pedagogy
- Outcome-Based Education (OBE)
- Curriculum design
- Assessment methods
- Research methodology
- AI and digital teaching tools
- Student engagement strategies
- Coordinate induction and onboarding programs for newly recruited faculty.
Staff Development
- Develop training programs for administrative and support staff.
- Conduct leadership development and succession planning initiatives.
- Facilitate behavioral, communication, customer service, and soft skills training.
- Promote continuous professional development across departments.
Training Design & Delivery
- Design instructor-led, blended, and e-learning modules.
- Prepare training content, presentations, manuals, assessments, and learning resources.
- Identify and engage internal and external trainers.
- Facilitate training sessions where required.
Performance & Capability Development
- Align training initiatives with performance management outcomes.
- Support Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
- Track competency improvement and employee growth.
- Recommend career development and learning pathways.
Learning Management
- Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) and digital learning platforms.
- Maintain training records, certifications, attendance, and compliance documentation.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
Leadership Development
- Design leadership programs for academic leaders, department heads, and administrative managers.
- Develop mentoring and coaching initiatives.
- Build succession planning frameworks.
Compliance & Accreditation
- Ensure faculty development activities comply with UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NBA, NIRF, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation required for accreditation and quality audits.
- Prepare reports related to faculty training and institutional development.
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with Deans, Heads of Departments, HR, and senior management.
- Build partnerships with industry experts, universities, and training organizations.
- Manage vendor selection, contracts, and training budgets.
Reporting & Analytics
- Track key learning metrics including:
- Training hours
- Participation rate
- Training effectiveness
- Competency improvement
- ROI of training initiatives
- Present periodic L&D reports and dashboards to management.

QualificationsEducation
- Master's Degree in Human Resource Management, Education, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Training & Development, or Coaching will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, or Training.
- Minimum 3 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in higher education, universities, educational institutions, or teacher training organizations is preferred.
- Experience in designing Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and leadership development initiatives.
