Job Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for managing the overall store operations of the manufacturing unit, including receipt, storage, preservation, inventory control, issuance, and dispatch of raw materials, consumables, packing materials, tools, spare parts, and finished goods. The role ensures inventory accuracy, uninterrupted material availability for production, compliance with company policies, and effective coordination with Production, Purchase, Quality, Finance, and Logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the stores department.
- Ensure timely receipt, inspection, and proper storage of all incoming materials.
- Verify materials against Purchase Orders, Delivery Challans, and Invoices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/software.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder quantities.
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department for timely replenishment of materials.
- Issue materials to production departments as per authorized Material Requisition Slips (MRS).
- Maintain FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual physical stock verification.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper storage conditions to prevent damage, deterioration, or theft.
- Manage finished goods inventory and coordinate dispatch activities.
- Maintain proper documentation for inward, outward, stock transfers, and returns.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and MIS reports.
- Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance for material inspection and rejection handling.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, 5S, Safety, and statutory requirements.
- Supervise store staff and allocate daily work responsibilities.
- Train team members on inventory procedures and warehouse safety.
- Coordinate with logistics for timely dispatch and receipt of materials.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization and storage layout.
- Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness within the store area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration.
- Diploma/Degree in Material Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in Store/Warehouse Management.
- Experience in a manufacturing industry is mandatory.
- Experience in Furniture, Automotive, Engineering, Metal, Wood, or Consumer Goods Manufacturing is preferred.
