Role Overview
As an MEP Technician, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will work closely with the Site Supervisor and MEP Engineers to ensure that all building services are installed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project blueprints and local building codes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Systems
- Install and terminate electrical wiring, conduits, switchboards, and distribution panels.
- Set up and connect lighting systems, power outlets, generators, and transformers.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults, test circuits, and ensure all works strictly adhere to Indian electrical safety standards.
2. Mechanical (HVAC) Systems
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including split ACs, chillers, AHUs (Air Handling Units), and FCUs (Fan Coil Units).
- Lay and insulate refrigerant piping, ductwork, and ventilation systems.
- Test mechanical systems for leaks, airflow blockages, and optimal performance.
3. Plumbing & Firefighting
- Assemble and install pipelines, valves, and drainage systems for water supply and sewage.
- Test plumbing systems for water tightness, pressure, and flow.
- Install and maintain sanitary fixtures, water tanks, pumps, and fire suppression/sprinkler systems.
4. Site Coordination & Quality Control
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics accurately.
- Ensure all daily installations comply with project design specifications.
- Collaborate with other construction workers, masons, and project managers to prevent clashes in piping and wiring runs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing/Civil Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of hands-on site experience in residential or commercial construction projects.
- Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with basic power and hand tools.
- Good understanding of electrical and plumbing codes.
- Language: Fluency in Tamil is highly preferred; working knowledge of English and Hindi is an added advantage.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
