Location: Goregaon West, Mumbai — In-office (Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 7 PM) Reports to: Founder
Experience:1 Year – 3 years
Compensation: ₹30,000 – ₹40,000 in-hand per month
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role
We're a fast-growing, founder-led direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand. We're looking for a sharp, numbers-driven Finance Analyst who turns raw financial data into management decisions.
Your job is to build the founder's decision-support layer the monthly P&L, the cash position view, the treasury "what can we deploy" answer, and the budget vs actual tracking that drives every important spend call.
This role is for someone who looks at numbers and asks "why is this off?" — not someone who just enters data and moves on. If you're the kind of person who can spot a ₹50,000 expense that shouldn't be there in a 100-row credit card statement, you'll thrive here. If you need a defined checklist to function, this isn't for you.
What You'll Actually Do in Monthly P&L Construction
- Pull bank and credit card statements monthly. Categorise every transaction — food, software, transport, vendor payments, asset purchases, marketing spend — into a master expense register
- Receive sales and delivery data from the Ops Head (Shiprocket reports, marketplace settlements)
- Calculate revenue, COGS (cost per SKU × units sold), and full monthly P&L (EBITDA-led structure)
- Deliver monthly P&L by 10th of next month non-negotiable deadline
- The number must be defensible enough to use as the basis for monthly incentive calculations to other employees
Cash Position & Treasury
- Maintain a bi-weekly cash position statement (1st and 15th of every month)
- Build a monthly treasury view
- Calculate approximate tax liability so reserves are protected
Vendor Bills & Compliance Coordination
- Collect all vendor bills from the Ops Head monthly
- Maintain a structured digital "Super Bills" folder (Google Drive) — software, subscriptions, vendor invoices, rent, all of it. Searchable, labelled, audit-ready
- Provide categorised expense data to the external CA for GST and TDS filing
- You're the operational layer; the CA is the compliance layer. Clean handoff between the two is your responsibility
Budgets, Alerts, and Decision Support
- Build monthly budgets for line items the founder defines (team outings, marketing, software, etc.)
- Track actuals vs budget with graphs, dashboards, and alerts when categories are tracking over
- Run pre-purchase financial analysis: "Should we order ₹5 lakh of inventory? Show me the impact on cash, runway, and CCC"
Cash Conversion Cycle
- Track DIO (inventory days), DSO (receivable days), DPO (payable days) monthly
- Flag working capital stress before it becomes a problem
- Reconcile payment gateways (Razorpay, Shopify) and COD remittances against bank inflows
What We're Looking ForMust-Have
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets — VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, pivot tables, SUMIFS, IF/IFS, conditional formatting, charts. You should be able to build a dashboard from scratch
- Solid fundamentals in P&L, cash flow, and EBITDA — not textbook definitions but how the numbers connect to business reality
- Strong number sense — comfortable doing mental math under light pressure
- Pattern recognition — when you look at 100 transactions, you naturally spot anomalies, duplicates, and trends
- Synthesis over reporting — you don't hand over a table of numbers. You hand over 3 insights with the numbers backing them up
- Critic instinct — you're comfortable telling the founder "I think this spend doesn't make sense" with the data to back it up
- B.Com / M.Com or equivalent finance degree
Good to Have
- Exposure to D2C / e-commerce finance — Shopify, Razorpay, Amazon, marketplace reconciliations
- CA Inter / CMA pursuing or completed
- Experience reading Tally or Zoho Books output (you don't need to operate them, just understand them)
- Basic understanding of GST input credit logic and TDS sections (for context, not for filing)
- Background in financial analysis, FP&A, or management reporting (vs pure bookkeeping)
What You'll Get
- Direct working relationship with the founder. No bureaucracy. You'll know exactly how decisions get made because you'll be in the room when they're made.
- Real ownership early in your career. You won't be supporting senior analysts. You'll be the senior analyst
- A clear post-probation revision path based on measurable output quality (P&L accuracy, deadline adherence, insight quality)
- Exposure to the full finance function of a growing D2C brand — from operational data to treasury decisions
