Job Title: Distribution In-charge

Reporting To: Operations Manager / Kitchen Head
Job Purpose:
The Distribution Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the end-to-end distribution of Mid-Day Meal (MDM) food deliveries from the central kitchen to schools and beneficiaries. The role ensures timely delivery, route optimization, fleet management, manpower supervision, and adherence to quality, safety, and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Distribution Operations
- Plan and execute daily food distribution schedules to ensure timely delivery to all assigned schools/locations.
- Ensure all food vehicles depart and return as per the approved schedule.
- Monitor route efficiency and optimize transportation plans to reduce delays and operational costs.
- Ensure uninterrupted distribution operations and contingency planning for emergencies.
Fleet Management
- Supervise and maintain the fleet of distribution vehicles.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, fitness certification, insurance renewals, and statutory compliance.
- Monitor fuel consumption and vehicle utilization.
- Ensure vehicle hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained.
Team Management
- Supervise drivers, helpers, and distribution staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and manpower deployment plans.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide guidance and training.
- Ensure discipline and adherence to organizational policies.
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Ensure food handling and transportation comply with hygiene and safety standards.
- Verify food loading and unloading procedures are followed.
- Ensure use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor compliance with statutory and organizational requirements.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with kitchen operations, production teams, schools, and local stakeholders.
- Address distribution-related issues and resolve escalations promptly.
- Maintain effective communication regarding route changes, delays, or emergencies.
MIS & Documentation
- Maintain daily distribution reports and vehicle movement records.
- Track key metrics such as delivery timelines, mileage, fuel usage, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare monthly MIS reports and submit to management.
- Maintain all distribution-related documentation and records.
Qualification:
- Graduate in any discipline (Logistics / Supply Chain preferred).
- An additional qualification in Transport, Operations, or Supply Chain Management will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 5–8 years of experience in logistics, transportation, fleet operations, or distribution management.
- Experience in food distribution, NGO operations, FMCG, or large-scale operations preferred.
Required Skills:

- Proficiency in MS Excel and MIS reporting.
