- Meet with clients to outline project goals, aesthetic preferences, functional requirements, and budget constraints.
- Design & Conceptualization: Develop initial design concepts, sketch layouts, and create "mood boards" or 3D digital presentations using design software like AutoCAD or 3Ds Max.
- Budgeting & Procurement: Estimate project costs, research and source materials (e.g., lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring), and manage orders and invoices.
- Project Management: Create timelines and coordinate with general building contractors, architects, plumbers, and electricians to ensure plans are executed accurately.
- Site Supervision: Inspect job sites throughout the renovation or construction process to ensure design specifications and building regulations are met.
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in interior design, interior architecture, or a closely related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, 3D modeling programs, and Microsoft Office.
