We are seeking a highly dynamic, news-obsessed and strategically-minded Social Media Manager to elevate our news channel’s digital presence and brand visibility.
In this role, you won’t just be posting links; you will be the bridge between our newsroom and our digital audience. You will translate complex geopolitics, breaking business news and current affairs into engaging, trend-setting social content. The ideal candidate possesses strong editorial judgment, deep SEO knowledge and the technical know-how to execute both organic growth and paid boosting strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Editorial & Content Management
News & Geopolitics Savvy: Monitor daily current affairs, national/international news and business developments to ensure our channels are first to report accurately.
Content Operations: Manage the end-to-end digital content pipeline from selecting which news stories to feature, to scripting short-form video copy, to scheduling posts for peak audience engagement.
Journalistic Integrity: Ensure all social media copy maintains the channel's credibility, avoiding misinformation while maximizing engagement.
2. Social Media Growth & Brand Visibility
Trend Jacking: Identify internet trends, viral formats, memes and audio cues early, adapting them ethically to fit news and current affairs reporting.
Audience Engagement: Manage and grow our communities across platforms (X/Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp Channels).
Paid Campaigns: Execute and optimize paid "boosts" and ad campaigns to increase reach, target specific demographics and drive subscriptions/views.
3. SEO & Traffic Generation Website SEO: Implement on-page SEO best practices (meta descriptions, keyword-rich headlines, alt text) on our website to ensure news articles rank high on Google News and Search.
4. Social SEO: Optimize video titles, descriptions and hashtags on YouTube and TikTok/Reels to maximize algorithmic discoverability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience : 3–5 years of experience managing social media, preferably for a news media house, digital publisher or PR agency.
Domain Knowledge : Strong understanding of global geopolitics, domestic current affairs and business/market trends.
SEO Expertise : Proficiency with tools like Google Analytics, Google Trends, SEMrush or Ahrefs.Technical
Tools : Experience with Meta Business Suite, X Pro (TweetDeck), Google Ads manager and basic graphic/video tools (Canva, CapCut).
Soft Skills : Ability to work under tight deadlines, excellent crisis management skills and impeccable copy-editing skills.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
