ABOUT THE COMPANY
Metalex Steel Strips Pvt. Ltd. is engaged in the processing of steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and other metal products, including coil slitting, cut-to-length, sheet processing, grinding/polishing and industrial material supply.
We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager with strong practical experience in the steel/metal industry who can independently manage the Quality Department and customer quality requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Manage complete QA/QC activities from incoming material to final dispatch.
- Establish and implement quality standards, inspection procedures, SOPs and Quality Plans.
- Inspect incoming steel coils, sheets, plates and other metal products.
- Monitor in-process and final inspection activities.
- Control product dimensions, thickness, width, length, flatness, surface quality, burr, camber and other customer specifications.
- Ensure proper material identification, traceability and segregation of non-conforming materials.
- Reduce internal rejection, rework and customer complaints.
2. Steel Product Quality
Candidate should have good practical knowledge of:
- HR / CR Steel Coils & Sheets
- MS / Carbon Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Alloy Steel
- GI / PPGI
- Steel strips and slit coils
- Cut-to-length sheets
- Aluminium, Copper & Brass products
Knowledge of IS/BIS, ASTM, EN, JIS and DIN standards will be an advantage.
3. Customer Quality Management
- Directly handle customer quality requirements and technical discussions.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, purchase orders and quality clauses.
- Coordinate customer inspections and third-party inspections.
- Handle customer complaints and prepare RCA, CAPA and 8D reports.
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions with Production, PPC, Purchase and Maintenance.
- Participate in customer audits and resolve quality-related issues.
- Ensure timely closure of customer complaints.
4. ISO 9001:2015
- Maintain and implement ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
- Maintain Quality Manual, procedures, SOPs, work instructions and formats.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external certification/surveillance audits.
- Maintain NCR, CAPA, audit and corrective-action records.
- Monitor Quality Objectives and KPIs.
- Ensure proper document control and revision control.
- Support Management Review activities.
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor certification preferred.

- Manage day-to-day quality laboratory activities.
- Ensure proper testing of steel and metal products.
- Maintain calibration and verification records of measuring instruments.
- Coordinate chemical and mechanical testing with approved laboratories.
- Review and maintain test reports.
- Experience with the following will be an advantage:
- Tensile testing
- Hardness testing
- Chemical composition / Spectrometer
- Thickness measurement
- Vernier / Micrometer
- Surface and dimensional inspection
- Metallurgical testing
6. QUALITY DOCUMENTATION
Candidate must have strong experience in preparing, reviewing and maintaining:
- MTC / Mill Test Certificates
- Inspection Reports
- Test Reports
- Certificate of Conformance (COC)
- Certificate of Analysis (COA)
- Incoming Inspection Reports
- Final Inspection Reports
- NCR / CAPA Reports
- 8D Reports
- Calibration Certificates
- Third-Party Inspection Reports
- Heat Number / Coil Number / Batch Traceability Records
Candidate should be capable of verifying MTC details against customer requirements and actual material identification.
7. PROCESS QUALITY CONTROL
Experience in quality control of the following processes will be preferred:
- Coil Slitting
- Cut-to-Length
- Sheet Processing
- Grinding / Polishing
- PVC Lamination
- Packing & Dispatch
Monitor critical parameters including width, thickness, length, flatness, burr, edge condition, surface defects, camber, coil weight and packing.
8. QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Candidate should have practical knowledge of:
- Root Cause Analysis
- 5 Why
- Fishbone Analysis
- Pareto Analysis
- 8D Problem Solving
- CAPA
- PDCA
- SPC
- Poka-Yoke
- Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing
The candidate will be responsible for continuously improving product quality, process capability and customer satisfaction.
9. TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Lead Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Laboratory personnel.
- Allocate inspection responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Train Quality and Production personnel on quality requirements.
- Develop quality awareness across the shop floor.
- Ensure adherence to Quality SOPs and company procedures.
- Take complete ownership of Quality Department performance.
CANDIDATE PROFILEMandatory Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Quality Department.
- Experience in Steel Manufacturing / Steel Processing / Metal Industry.
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production / Materials Engineering.
- Strong practical knowledge of QA/QC and inspection.
- Experience in ISO 9001:2015.
- Experience in handling customers, customer complaints and audits.
- Experience in MTC verification and quality documentation.
- Laboratory/testing experience.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
- Strong communication and team-management skills.

The candidate must be capable of independently managing:
Incoming Inspection → Process Quality → Laboratory → Final Inspection → MTC Documentation → Customer Inspection → Customer Complaints → RCA/CAPA → ISO 9001:2015
Strong experience in steel products, coil slitting, sheet processing and industrial customer handling will be highly preferred.
