This Product Manager will be responsible for the product lifecycle activities related to the product platforms associated with NFL Football Technology. A core responsibility at this time is NFL’s emergency medical records (EMR) platform, which is delivered and maintained by an external software vendor. While the vendor is responsible for managing the product development, this individual will oversee the vendor relationship and help ensure the platform meets NFL medical, operational, compliance, and game‑day requirements. Responsibilities include stakeholder relationship management, requirements identification, feature/enhancement prioritization, release planning, training coordination, user support, product administration, data governance oversight, system integration coordination, budgeting, and vendor performance management.
The candidate should have strong relationship‑building skills and understand the operational concerns of the array of League, Club and medical stakeholders relying upon on the EMR platform. This individual should be able to embed themselves with the business, understand how the platform enables stakeholder objectives, define requirements, map workflows, and articulate the value the platform brings to different stakeholder groups.
The Product Manager must collaborate closely with the vendor product and development team, stakeholders, other project managers, business analysts, IT security, to convey clear requirements, communicate about project status and risks, ensure proper staffing, provide and help guide product releases, including user training, rollout plans, and post‑release support.
This role requires exceptional oral and written communication skills (with executives, clinicians, and club personnel). The candidate must be highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable operating in fast‑paced, high‑stakes environments such as game‑day operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the platform’s enablement of emergency medical documentation, sideline workflows, and in‑stadium medical operations
- Work with vendor to identify product enhancement needs based on feedback from League medical leadership, club medical staff, athletic trainers, and game‑day operations
- Act as primary liaison with the EMR vendor, coordinating contracts, SLAs, roadmap reviews, and performance scorecards
- Provide input to management of the feature backlog, helping to prioritize enhancements aligned with NFL medical and operational priorities
- Provides support on user access management
- Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure compliance with HIPAA and NFL data governance standards and other policies.
- Coordinate with vendor on staffing needs for implementation, ongoing operations, and game‑day support
- Track and manage platform licenses and track vendor deliverables
- Manage the product budget, including vendor resources, licensing, and consulting support
- Coordinate the creation of training materials and ensure training delivery to club medical staff and League personnel
- Coordinate with the vendor on planning releases and rollouts, ensuring readiness for the season, including international games
- Coordinate with vendor and internal support teams on ensuring timely and efficient tracking and resolution of incidents
- Oversee and maintain reference documentation for the platform
- Understand integration requirements between the emergency medical records platform and other NFL systems (e.g., data pipelines, analytics platforms, identity management)
- Support incident response processes for system outages or critical issues during games
- Facilitate cross‑functional alignment across NFL Medical, Health & Safety, Football Operations, IT, Legal, and Compliance
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of software/product management, vendor management, or technology program management experience
- Experience with software systems with high compliance standards and a wide array of stakeholders
- Experience collaborating with project managers, business analysts, technical experts, and vendors to drive toward a common solution and release plan
- Strong working knowledge of the product management lifecycle and best‑practice software development processes—from discovery to requirements to configuration to training to rollout
- Prior experience with Scrum or Agile development methodologies
- Experience managing software vendors, optimizing value from applications, and influencing vendor product roadmaps
- Ability to prioritize and take ownership of issues and drive them to successful completion
- Strong organization and time‑management skills
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral), presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to form constructive opinions and justify decisions
- Background in sports medicine, EMR/EHR systems, or emergency medical operations is a strong plus
- Experience working with clinicians, athletic trainers, or medical operations stakeholders a plus
