Trainer – Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage)
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Trainer – Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage) for our skill development training programs in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
The trainer will be responsible for delivering theoretical and practical training in food and beverage service, guest handling, restaurant operations, table service, order taking, service etiquette, hygiene, billing support, and customer satisfaction.
The training shall be delivered as per the prescribed curriculum, Qualification Pack/NOS, NSQF standards, and applicable skill development guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and practical training for the Guest Service Associate – Food & Beverage job role.
- Train candidates in restaurant and food service operations.
- Provide hands-on training in:
- Guest greeting and seating
- Table setup and mise-en-place
- Food and beverage service
- Order taking
- Menu presentation
- Suggestive selling
- Table service
- Tray service
- Clearing and resetting tables
- Billing and payment assistance
- Guest feedback and complaint handling
- Train candidates on different styles of food and beverage service, including:
- Table Service
- Buffet Service
- Room Service basics
- Banquet Service basics
- Counter Service
- Explain the use and maintenance of:
- Cutlery
- Crockery
- Glassware
- Service trays
- Table linen
- Service equipment
- Train candidates in table laying, napkin folding, plate handling, and service sequence.
- Explain food and beverage menus, basic food terminology, portioning, accompaniments, and service procedures.
- Train candidates on handling customer orders accurately and coordinating with kitchen and service teams.
- Teach basic POS, billing, KOT, and order management procedures wherever applicable.
- Train candidates in professional grooming, personal hygiene, body language, and hospitality etiquette.
- Explain food hygiene, sanitation, workplace cleanliness, and safe food handling practices.
- Train candidates in guest communication, customer satisfaction, complaint handling, and service recovery.
- Conduct role plays and practical simulations on guest interaction, order taking, serving, complaint handling, and billing.
- Train candidates on upselling and cross-selling of food and beverage items.
- Explain the importance of teamwork, punctuality, discipline, and coordination in hospitality operations.
- Ensure training delivery as per prescribed Qualification Pack (QP), National Occupational Standards (NOS), NSQF curriculum, and training hours.
- Prepare lesson plans, session plans, presentations, assignments, demonstrations, and practical exercises.
- Conduct regular assessments, mock tests, role plays, practical evaluations, and revision sessions.
- Maintain candidate attendance, assessment records, practical logs, progress reports, and other training documentation.
- Identify candidates requiring additional support and provide remedial training.
- Prepare candidates for final assessment and certification.
- Train candidates in employability skills, interview preparation, workplace discipline, teamwork, and professional conduct.
- Coordinate with the Centre Manager, Training Coordinator, Assessors, and Project Team for smooth implementation of the training program.
- Support placement activities for candidates in hotels, restaurants, resorts, cafés, food courts, catering companies, banquets, and other hospitality establishments.
Qualification
Candidates should preferably possess one of the following qualifications:
- Degree / Diploma in Hotel Management
- Diploma in Food & Beverage Service
- B.Sc. in Hotel Management / Hospitality Management
- Degree / Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality
- BBA / MBA in Hospitality Management
- Craft Course / Certification in Food & Beverage Service
- Any other relevant qualification with experience in Hospitality or F&B Service
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry and/or training experience in Food & Beverage Service, Hospitality, Restaurants, Hotels, Catering, or related areas.
- Candidates with hands-on experience in hotels, restaurants, resorts, banquet operations, cafés, or catering establishments will be preferred.
- Previous experience as a Food & Beverage Trainer / Hospitality Trainer / Guest Service Trainer will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Food & Beverage service operations.
- Good understanding of restaurant service standards.
- Practical knowledge of table setup, service sequence, and guest handling.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation.
- Ability to conduct demonstrations and practical service sessions.
- Familiarity with POS, billing, and order management systems will be an advantage.
- Ability to conduct role plays and hospitality service simulations.
- Strong classroom management and trainee engagement skills.
- Good grooming and professional presentation.
- Ability to explain hospitality concepts in a simple and practical manner.
- Basic computer knowledge including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet usage.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Telugu is essential; working knowledge of English and Hindi will be an added advantage.
