We seek an experienced Optical Technician to join our team and ensure every customer receives perfectly fitted lenses and a great in-store experience.
Key Responsibilities: Accurately fit lenses into frames (plastic, metal, rimless, semi-rimless), ensuring proper alignment, centration, and secure mounting. Verify prescription lenses against order specifications and make necessary adjustments. Perform lens edging, heat-tempering, and minor frame repairs (soldering, tightening screws, replacing nose pads/temples). Inspect finished eyewear for quality, remove defects, and ensure correct optical centration and PD alignment. Assist customers with frame selection, basic product explanations, and post-fit adjustments for comfort and vision. Conduct frame measurements, pantoscopic tilt checks, and verify fitting parameters (vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt, wrap). Maintain shop equipment (edgers, heat pliers, screwdrivers, ultrasonic cleaner), calibrate tools, and report maintenance needs. Keep accurate records of repairs, adjustments, and job tickets; coordinate with dispensing opticians for complex cases. Follow hygiene and safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized bench area.
