Duties and responsibilities
Organizing, controlling and supervising dyeing and bleaching of yarn and cloth• Controlling the costing of all incidental processing of dyeing, bleaching, etc.• Determining the dyes and their proportions for dyeing yarn and cloth• Judging the required colour and shade• Supervising the mixing of dyes according to the predetermined formula• Ensuring that the predetermined formula is heated to the required temperature• Testing the sample of dye solution on textiles to get the desired colour and shade• Visiting the sections periodically to supervise various operations such as bleaching of yarn or cloth in kier, washing and dyeing them in special dyeing machines• Ensuring that quality of production is maintained • Testing the sample of dyed cloth in laboratory to check fastness of colour, etc.• Maintaining the machines and equipment in perfect working condition• Keeping the record of batches of colours mixed, quantity of yarn and cloth bleached and dyed, etc.• Conducting research for evolving better methods of production and different colour combinations.
Qualifications and skills required
Diploma in Textile technology.
8-15 yrs of experience in dyeing field.
Detailed knowledge of the process of dyeing and bleaching of yarn and cloth• Skilled in estimating cost and basic accounting principles • Proficient in judging the proportion of the dyes that are used• Knowledge of quality testing done on dyes • Proficiency in supervising maintenance of machines• Knowledge of experimenting process• Knowledge of different parameters of dyes• Knowledge of colour theory and eye for checking on spectrophotometer • Knowledge of the complete process of dye combination.
