Role Overview
An Anesthesia Technician assists anesthesiologists and anesthesia care teams in preparing, maintaining, and operating anesthesia equipment and supplies during surgical and procedural cases. They play a critical support role in ensuring patient safety in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment & Setup
- Prepare and test anesthesia machines, ventilators, and monitoring equipment before each procedure
- Set up anesthesia workstations with required drugs, fluids, and airway management tools
- Perform pre-operative checks to ensure all equipment is functional and calibrated
Intraoperative Support
- Assist anesthesiologists during induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia
- Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot issues during procedures
- Manage IV lines, airway adjuncts, and patient monitoring devices
Medication & Supply Management
- Prepare and label anesthetic drugs, syringes, and infusions as directed
- Maintain inventory of anesthesia supplies and restock carts between cases
- Ensure proper storage of controlled substances per hospital protocol
Sterilization & Maintenance
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable anesthesia equipment
- Perform routine maintenance checks and escalate technical faults to biomedical engineering
- Maintain accurate records of equipment servicing and usage logs
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain documentation related to drug usage, equipment checks, and incidents
- Adhere to hospital infection control, safety, and NABH/JCI accreditation standards
- Participate in training, drills, and quality improvement initiatives
Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹22,413.83 per month
