Product Designer / Technical Drawing Specialist – Luxury Furniture

About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Product Designer / Technical Drawing Specialist with strong experience in luxury furniture design, technical detailing, and production drawings.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for converting creative furniture concepts into accurate, production-ready technical drawings that can be effectively understood and executed by craftsmen, vendors, and manufacturing teams.
This role requires a strong understanding of furniture construction, materials, joinery, dimensions, finishes, hardware, and manufacturing processes, along with a keen eye for luxury detailing and aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D technical drawings, production drawings, and manufacturing drawings for luxury furniture.
- Convert design concepts, sketches, mood boards, and 3D models into production-ready documentation.
- Prepare detailed drawings including:
- Plans
- Elevations
- Sections
- Detailed views
- Exploded views
- Joinery details
- Assembly details
- Hardware details
- Material and finish specifications
- Ensure drawings include accurate dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, construction details, and finishing requirements.
- Develop furniture construction details for products such as:
- Sofas and upholstered furniture
- Beds and headboards
- Dining and coffee tables
- Consoles and sideboards
- Cabinets and storage units
- Chairs and occasional furniture
- Custom luxury furniture pieces
- Collaborate closely with industrial designers, interior designers, production teams, carpenters, upholsterers, metal fabricators, and vendors.
- Understand and incorporate different materials such as solid wood, veneer, MDF, plywood, marble, stone, metal, glass, leather, fabric, acrylic, and other premium materials.
- Develop practical construction solutions while maintaining the intended design aesthetics.
- Review prototypes and samples and incorporate required modifications into production drawings.
- Coordinate with production teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials), hardware specifications, material schedules, and finish schedules where required.
- Conduct drawing reviews and ensure all information is accurate before release to production.
- Maintain proper documentation and revision control for drawings.
- Support the product development process from concept → detailing → prototype → sampling → final production.
- Identify opportunities to improve construction, functionality, production efficiency, and material utilization without compromising the luxury finish or design intent.
Technical Skills
- Excellent knowledge of furniture construction and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong understanding of joinery, hardware, upholstery construction, woodwork, metalwork, and finishing processes.
- Ability to interpret and create precise technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, scale, proportions, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
- Experience with SketchUp, SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, or similar 3D software will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of rendering/visualization software such as KeyShot, V-Ray, or Enscape is desirable.
- Ability to create clear drawings that can be directly used by production and workshop teams.
- Good understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and prototyping.
Required Experience
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in furniture product design, technical detailing, furniture manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience working with premium or luxury furniture is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a furniture manufacturing environment or with furniture production vendors will be an advantage.
- Candidates should have a strong portfolio demonstrating technical drawings and successfully manufactured furniture/products.

Education
Preferred:
Bachelor's/Diploma in Product Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Relevant professional experience and a strong portfolio may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
